The resort offers a variety of casual and fine dining restaurants overlooking the Pacific Ocean. A Motel 6 would have been better

I had to stay at this hotel because of the conference I recently attended. Upon arriving I found long brown hairs on the pillows of the "freshly made bed" and nail clippings on the floor next to the nightstand . There were also long brown hairs hanging out of the faucet of the tub. The fire alarms intermittently went off after midnight the first night there. This went on for over an hour and no one at the bell desk or front desk would answer the phone. The window in my room would not close so I was "entertained" by all of the drunks on th balcony all night long. This made my 8:00 am presentation more difficult than it should have been. There was food spilled in the hall (looked like spanish rice) next to my room. It statyed there my entire stay. On my last night I found silverfish scampering across my bed and across the bathroom floor. DISGUSTING! I wrote a note to management which was not even acknowledged. And to add insult to injury one of those silverfish hitched a ride home with me! I guess I should be gratefull it was not a bedbug! DO NOT GO HERE!

Overcrowded and unattentive to patrons

Overpriced. Coupons for spa were not useable due the hectic activities open to all outsiders, without preferential consideration to hotel guests paying a premium to reside at the hotel. I still have over $300 of unusable spa passes!!

2nd and last trip

the staff, the food, upkeep, and the clientele has gone down hill the last few years. We were awoken the last day at 5:45 am by a crazy woman screaming banging on her neighbors door because they were to loud. It took 45 min and four rooms calling for security to come. you could clearly hear each room screaming at the receptionist. Not even an apology from hotel for slow response time or for not doing anything to that customer . Nice of her to ruin eight other families vacation. Beautiful location but ....would not recommend it.

Steampunk

This is a huge Victorian hotel that has been modernized as best it could be. There is a lot of dark wood and uneven floors. Not your typical big hotel. It has nice restaurants and shops but everything is very pricey.

Coronado Days

I had a great experience, although I am a low maintenance person. Everything that I needed was available and the history and beach access was a major plus. I was initially worried about the limited elevators but it worked out OK.

A pleasant suprise!

The Hotel del Coranado has all the luxury and amenities that are expected from a top-notch hotel. My wife and I were there in July '08 and were delighted with the personal service and attention. There was perfect follow-thru and completion of all expected services and convenience items. Nobody forgot to call back and all of the staff were prompt with their service. The friendly and non-formal atmosphere was great. The rooms were modern and even had 50 flat-panel LCD TV's. In thinking of a down-side, I would have to say the the place is somewhat crowded. Many guests and people on various tours. We loved our stay and will return some day.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

Take the ferry from Coronado to the Seaport Village area. I is just as fast as a taxi, but $3.50 each, one way, and is more fun. The dinner criuse in the marina area is great. Tour the USS Midway. Balboa park is just great. The the zoo, while nice, is not any much different that other city zoos, and time is better spent seeing other things.
