It is an expensive ($100/night) motel in Chula Vista - nothing exciting. Stayed Fri-Sun; family of 3. Small room; night dancing nearby, with funny people then 'talking' in front of your window, at 2:00 am; trucks parking at ~10 feet from your bed, after midnight as well. With the price $40, would I stay again? - No.

Super comfy bed
Situated very close to highways so great if you need a place to stay for the night, comfortable clean room with everything you needed. Bed was great. Pool looked clean but spa pool was brown so not sure what as wrong there. Not sure about the neighborhood at night, we drove the short distance to there Black Angus Steakhouse for dinner which is also to be recommended.

Good Experience for the Price
For what we paid for, the Vagabond Inn met our expectations and provided us a good experience. We enjoyed our stay and i definitely recommend it to anybody staying in the area. My girlfriend and i stayed there for one night. We were just passing through and were looking for a quality room at an affordable price (~$85). The Vagabond Inn met that criteria. Clean rooms, not too far from the I-5 highway, friendly staff, and good location. My main concern with booking the inn was the locale. I've stayed at the hotel where it didn't feel safe. Sketchy people hanging outside, making a fuss, being loud, all that good stuff. When we arived at the VB Inn i was pleased to see that it was more like a gated community where you drive into a cul-de-sac to get to the rooms. We felt safe and it was fairly peaceful. There was the occasional passing chatter of our neighbors, but nothing to complain about. The staff is very friendly. The three times i went to the front desk (check-in, iron & board, check-out), the clerks were respectable. The room was nice. Clean and smelt normal. TV, remote, and cable where the channels actually worked. Refrigerator was not as cold as i'd like, but it did the job. We didn't see any bugs with exception to the next morning. Breakfast - which consists of coffee, juice, and muffins - was from 6-9:30 AM. We picked up muffins and juice then brought them back to the room. We put down the wrappers from the muffins on the side table next to the bed then found ants eating it some 2 hours later when we were getting ready to check out. It wasn't a huge inconvenience, but slightly bothersome nonetheless. We just threw it away and that was the last we saw of them. Fortunately, they weren't actually on the main table where we had other exposed food. Iron and iron board were available at the front desk for check-out. They apparently get booked on some weekends so i suggest making the reservation. When we arrived, all the rooms were checked out. We came on a saturday night. Good overall experience for $85. Will stay again.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
About a couple exits down on the I-5 South (J-Street/Marina something??), there's a marina. If you drive down and explore a little you'll find an area where you can go for nice walks on the coast. It's more like a bay as opposed to a beach, so i would check it out.
