Unfriendly welcoming

The hotle was fine. It was right in line with our budget. The rooms were clean, most of the hotel staff was friendly and respectful, but Letty, the evening manager, did not make us feel welcome. I stood at the front desk waiting to be checked in while she walked up and down from one end of the front desk to the other and not once said "Good evening, I'll be with you in a moment." There was no smile, not even a forced, "I'm smiling because I have too smile." When we checked out the next day oh what a difference a day makes. The morning manager was terrific.

No air conditioning, had to wait at least 30 minutes to have a request filled...asked for an extra key and they said they were out..how does a hotel run out of keys?? Will not stay here ever again.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

This hotel is close to a shopping mall, restaurants, and just off the I-805 freeway, its easy access to a major freeway is what makes this hotel a convenient one for the price we paid.

Hotel Stay

The Hotel was a good price considering I booked it a few days before we went to California. We did not spend a lot of time there but it was clean and nice. They offered a free computer for use downstairs. It was kind of slow but we got great use out of it. There was one slight problem. When my husband and I plugged up our cell phones to charge it knocked a curcuit out and we lost power to the bathroom and the wall the TV is on. That was taken care of so it worked out. You can also request for a refrigerator and microwave for your room. This hotel is only about 15 minutes from the city of San Diego and according to the signs it was about 10 mins from Tijiuana. It has excellent access to the major highways. Overall, even though the hotel was not 4 or 5 star it was nice, clean, and served the purpose. I would stay there again.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

There is a mall less than 5 minutes from the hotel. There was also cheap family dinner restaurants you could eat at and also nice lil spanish restaurants with outside sitting and bars. Also there was a plaza that was very close. It contained a target. AMC movie theater and a host of other stores and restaurants. There were plenty of close by gas stations as well.

Frigid Stay

I booked a room for my active duty navy son, daughter-in-law and 2 year old grandaughter for their visit over the holidays (Dec 17 -Dec 29). On their second night they called me because the room was cold. I went to the hotel and I was informed that the hotel had central heating and they would only turn it on if 5 or more quests complained that it was cold. They offered spaces heaters in lieu of heat. I told them the space heaters posed a safety hazard to my granddaughter as they were plug in and almost as big as she was but they wouldn't help me. I had to remove them from the hotel and all had to sleep on an air matress in my living room for the remainder of their stay as the hotel would not refund my money. [...] I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Not acceptable

We were visiting family in the area for a 5 day stay. Upon entering the room, it was 'sweltering' while the outside temperature was ~ 63. The thermostat was 'off'; and we attempted to cool off the room while we were out for a few hours. Upon return the room was again sweltering; thermostat set to 'cool' and the vent throwing out HOT air. Upon complaining to the front desk we were told that the whole building was on a central control; the thermostat made no difference. When we inquired about changing rooms; we were told that was possible but not to expect a difference. Their recommendation was to 'open the windows' which we did; and it did cool off the room; although this admitted all the 'street noise' all nite. Upon touring several floors we found that the doors to the exterior stairs was left open continuously (possible to 'cool the floors'. So, we [...] asked for a refund of the 'unused 3 nites' in our reservation. Ramada granted this and we got our money back for the unused nites. The 2 nites we stayed were uncomfortable; insecure (recall the doors !); and very noisy (open windows). Terrible!! On the positive side: the room & hotel were clean; & the continental breakfast was adequate. Don't stay at this hotel. This experience could have been much worse a week earlier when the outside temperature was closer to 90. The complimentary PC in the lobby made it easier to find another motel nearby.

"One of our worst experiences"

There was definitely something missing that would have made our stay enjoyable. First, a hotel room that had properly functioning air conditioning would have been a great plus. Having to use portable fans to cool your room is unheard of.Also, customer service with this hotel staff was highly unsatisfactory. Instead of making us feel welcome, it was a feeling like maybe they were doing us the favor by letting us stay there.Very unfriendly and unprofessional!

Overall - Satisfied

My visit was for the birth of my grand-daughter. Staff was very friendly, and always interested in how I was doing during my wait. Then were excited to see pictures after her birth. Overall I had a great time.
