Disgusting treatment from management
Initially booked this hotel because they allow pets. It states on their site to check with them ahead of time. Called them, and they said they had pet rooms available. After booking through 3rd party site and arriving at the hotel, was informed all the pet rooms were gone. The hotel would not refund our money and upon speaking with manager, was told it was our fault for booking with 3rd party site and not BW directly. Manager proceeded to accuse me of lying concerning checking with them initially, and that addressing my concern was not his problem. I will never stay here again and will tell others the same. To 3rd Party Site's credit, while they can't refund us, they did offer us a $50 travel voucher, something Best Western should have handled themselves. 3rd party site also attempted to rectify situation with Manager Craig, but he hung up during the conversation. Shameful.

The staff was friendly, but the decor of the hotel room was horrible. For the price and the number of stars, I expected a lot better. The walls were sooo thin I could hear EVERYTHING that was going on in the room next door which made things really uncomfortable at night and in the morning. Its probably a popular hotel for college kids since Chico state is next door....

Excellent mid-range hotel
This is an excellent choice for a mid-range hotel. Most of the amenities of a luxury hotel without the ridiculously high price. Good access to restaurants and the freeway for wherever you need to be in Chico.

bed bugs
Just before going to sleep, we noticed there were 3 bed bugs crawling on our bed and bodies. We were quickly given a different room to move into that was very nice, good sized, and newer-looking mattress. But it's tough to relax after something like that and having to move your stuff and get re-settled.

Nice Chico accomodations
Friendly staff, clean comfortable room, relaxing huge jacuzzi, and nice breakfast. Definitely would stay again! Amusing sign on the desk showing you how much they will charge you should you decide to keep any of the bedding or towels. : ) Apparently, they have discounts for parents of Chico State students (contact the hotel directly).

Not quite as advertised
We traveled to Chico for a short weekend for a friend's 80th birthday party. This was intended to be a short vacation weekend as well for us. The hotel is very dated and the exterior could use a facelift. The rooms are large but also very dated. The tub (jacuzzi) did not work, and was very old--looked dirty. The hallways were in need of a good vacuum (bars of soap and debri littered our hallway.) The pool has NO LOUNGE chairs! and it sits a chipping wedge from the major 4 lane highway (99) that goes through Chico. The noise level at the pool was so high you could not even have a conversation. Only 1/2 of the jets in the hot tub were working. Staff was friendly when I had booked a king non smoking and they didn't have me in one when I checked in. Corrected that, but the room was obviously a smoking room not too long ago and smelled VERY stale of old smoke.
