Great Location, clean room, poor bed
We stayed here for a cheaper option than Santa Barbara, and it was an average place. Liked the uniqueness of hardwood floors, but the bed was more of a cot and difficult to sleep on at times. It was clean though, and three minutes from the beach which was what we wanted. Would stay here again next time we go to Carpenteria.

Perfect for the Bargain, don't expect the Ritz though
You have to be realistic when going to a Motel 6 especially when surrounding area larger/nicer hotels are 5-10 times the cost (as they were on this weekend and many others we looked at). My lady and I took a spontaneous trip and it was perfect. We actually spent half the time in the hotel, relaxing, saving money and having a whole load of fun/drinks in the hotel--being respectful of other guests and mindful of the time of day of course-- and calling a taxi to take us to downtown Santa Barbara on a Saturday night to party. Room was stanky/stuffy but of course we expected such as it was a cheap bargain and we knew it was smoking--so OBVIOUSLY! Would NOT recommend for a comfortable family vacation or romantice getaway where you expect to get pampered or spend a lot of time in your room. Fork up the dough if thats the case. Other than that, it was STILL a romantic little one night getaway for my lady and I as we had REALISTIC expectations, and theres a nice little downtown Carpinteria with diners and cool places you don't find in big cities and the State Beach entrance/parking is like 2-3 minutes away. Great for the value, just realistic with the grading. Nothing negative to report because my expectations were met.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
check out the Worker Bee cafe for a nice quaint family owned restaurant that serves a GREAT chicken sandwich (we JUST missed breakfast, but that menu looked amazing). Place is small, run by a married couple it seems, but it's cool if you're out to try something new, support a small business, or need a change from the typical breakfast chain restaurant.

Great deal
The hotel room was clean, quiet and comfortable. It's a Motel 6, so nothing fancy, but having said that I was very impressed that for about half the price of what you would pay elsewhere in the vicinity, the room was a reasonable size, comfortable and clean. In addition it had a pool. There were no amenities, such as shampoo, lotion, etc, but who cares when you are saving about $50 to $100 on the price. Overall a nice place and a good deal.

Weekend getaway close to home
We wanted to go somewhere for a long weekend that wouldn't require too much driving so we headed to Santa Barbara (about 3/12 hours from San Diego). We also wanted a cheap hotel and the Motel 6 fit the bill. It is about a 10 minute drive to Santa Barbara. It was a little noisy due to the fact that some truckers stayed there and started up their engines in the morning, plus it is very close to the 101. The staff was very friendly and gave us great recommendations for restaurants local hikes. The rooms were what we paid for, no storage, beds could be firmer but clean and nice modern feel. I am a caffeine addict and while their is coffee in the lobby from 7-10 am it was mediocre but their is a Starbucks about a 5 minute walk or 1 minute drive away.

Short drive from hotel
We had a very late night of activities on Saturday but didn't eat anything. We were looking for a place to eat at around 11 pm and were told to go to Roy on the corner of State and Carillo (?) in Santa Barbara. They serve dinner until midnight, the food was good, reasonably priced and atmosphere was great. Or if you want a delicious breakfast right in Carpenteria go to Esau's cafe and have the crunchy french toast- a unique treat!

Great budget option near Santa Barbara
A great hotel for a cheap stay within easy driving distance to Santa Barbara, 10 miles. The rooms are basic (it's a Motel 6), but the minimalist design keeps everything looking clean and comfortable. There's no rug, so no nasty smoke smell, the sheets were clean, and it was quiet in the evening. I went with my girlfriend and we spent the money we saved on some great restaurants in Santa Barbara. The only downside is you have to drive, so if you're planning to get smashed on wine tasting in Santa Barbara, better to find a hotel near the pier. Wi-fi is extra, but just $2.99.

Fine place to stay the night.
Our room felt very Asian in size, but looked like it was decorated by IKEA. Great room for the minimalist. Just needed a place to sleep for the night, so I was quite fine with it. Maybe could have been 10 bucks cheaper like the one down the highway.

Best Motel 6
Didn't expect much, the room was small but had recently been remodeled - linoleum tile floor, platform queen bed, flat screen tv). Great staff. Easy to get to motel. Lots of business in the area.
