Enjoyed our stay

The room was fine, clean and had all that we needed. We were within walking distance of everything and never used our car. It was quiet and peaceful and the staff were helpful and very nice. We are returning next month and already re-book with them!

Out dated and over priced

You expect to pay a bit more when you stay in Carmel because of the location but this particular room was pretty over priced. Dirty glasses and linens were a pretty big turn off, followed by a lack of temperature control.

Good location, need to modernize

We booked 2 rooms with two queen bed and when we arrives they had two room with a single queen bed so we had to upgrade for a suite, $40 more. The staff was courteous. The breakfast was very simple: muffin, yogurt, fruit. Maybe the location justify the price

Staff very friendly, they strive to please

The facts are: rooms were clean, cleaning staff left two small bottles of water in the fridge every day for us which is great, fireplace worked, covered parking spots were a bit tight, free newspaper and breakfast in a cooler was delivered early, good strong shower, clean bathroom, right in the center of town, access to the beach just a short 5to 10 minute walk, 10 minutes away driving to the aquarium and Point Lobos. Pool looked clean. Tavern nearby, as in next door, which could be good or bad for you, depending if you're a lush, or trying to stay off the wagon. This probably would have been a little overpriced if not for a 20 percent coupon off the daily rate. Overall, good.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Seek Dining in nearby towns, restaurants are pricey with average food. I recommend Sea Harvest in Monterey.

We were so tired from our wedding. The Room was well stocked. We were cold till we figured out how to use the older heater. Jumped out of bed to eat, then came back to a warm room. Loved the warm pool. Breakfast we just packed to go not hungry. Staff nice very helpful.

Fireplace-heated pool-downtown

We were very pleased to find a large room, comfortable bed, heated pool, gas fireplace and walking distance to the beach and downtown restuarants. Best was continental bkfst delivered to your door with the paper every morning. Super idea. Room was not new, but was well maintained.

Long in the tooth

We have been to Carmel more than a dozen times in the last decade and were even married there. We try to get back to celebrate our marriage when we are able and so these visits are always special to us. Each time we try a new place to stay and on this trip the Dolphin Inn captured our attention for location and price. Upon arrival the gentleman at the reception was cold and generally unfriendly. Our room was on the first floor and although it was large by Carmel standards it was dated with furniture actually missing parts. This room was about 25 years past an update and was not charming in a vintage sort of way! UGLY late 70's decor. We had read some reviews complaining about the noise and they proved to be true. The breakfast cooler left at the door each morning was adaquate but definately did not compare with others we have enjoyed at other inns. Our advice: spend a little extra dough on better accomodations.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

Consider dinner at the Mission Ranch where there is live piano music nightly. Well worth the price and short drive! The sunset view cannot be beat as well.
