Great Getaway for a Great Price

Had never been to Carmel before - very charming place with lots to see. It rained most of the time we were there so we were very pleased to have the comfort of an oversized room with a fireplace and very comfortable bed and furniture. Clean, quiet, friendly. Shops, restaurants, galleries and beach all within a small walking distance. We'll be back!

Stop in at the front desk and get a copy of the map of Carmel's attractions. Great tool as well as a work of art.

Thankfully a moot point

I "upgraded" to this hotel...better described as an overpriced motor inn. Thin walls, single pane glass...I heard other guest's diction perfectly. Lights, TV, clock, etc. worked some of the time. If it weren't Carmel, it would be 1 star. Having said this, Carmel Lodge is now owned by a nice young couple that are going to bulldoze it and rebuild.....GOOD MOVE!

Great Location, Old Hotel

Great location. Hotel is near shops, art galleries and the beach. Hotel is fairly clean and service is nice. It also offered complimentary continental breakfast. However the hotel is very old and the room is tiny.

First Room too cold, better with upgrade

Great location; close to restos, shopping and beach. Easy going feel to the place. Accomodating with the upgrade as our booked room was VERY cold.

Nice enough

Great location in the heart of Carmel. Carmel Lodge was about $30 more a night than other nearby inns - frankly I think it was pretty comparable to the others and we probably would have been just as happy in a less expensive place. Don't be fooled by the photos of "premium rooms" on the website. We paid extra and our room was very small and we were told that because it had a fireplace it was premium. Overall it was a fine place to stay and if you are looking for a clean, well-located place with complimentary continental breakfast within walking distance to the beach then you can't go wrong. NOTE: PARKING IS AN ADDITIONAL $10/DAY.

Keeping your relationship alive
One weekend getaway at a time.. Bay Area

Great little lodge!

Carmel is one of our favorite places to spend the weekend, and I was surprised to get the last room for one night on a holiday weekend. Staff was very friendly and fixed a problemm quickly (booked a king, got a queen). The room was spacious and very clean, comfortable bed, and very cute carmel style. Only downfall wasn't the hotel, but the very rude and unthoughtful two families enjoying there continental breakfast complete with screaming baby in the courtyard area at 7am... I am glad they were enjoying the nice weather and coffee, but a little rude. I am sure if I said something to the desk they would have done something, they were very nice. Now remember, this is carmel, not vegas, I don't think 5 star fancy hotels full of amenties exist in carmel, but that is what makes it great. A little hotel, in a little town, and dinner at a little place, you can't go wrong. WORTH EVERY PENNY!

Pay the $10 bucks and park in the hotel lot. Street Parking is not impossible but you must move every 2 hours or you will get a ticket, 7 days a week. Everything is within walking distance. They even let us keep our car there after we checked out for a few hours.

OK - Its Still Carmel

OK, its still Carmel. We have spent many weekends in this lovely coastal town and have enjoyed it every time - and we did enjoy this trip as well. Our room was unimpressive, but, looking into open doors, the other rooms were niceer, fireplaces and closets visiable; our room was just the on-line special. In fact, my wife and I had a great laugh when we got into the room, no closet and the shower was smaller than a phone booth!. More laughter ensued when we came back from dinner and could't get the televisoin to work, the next morning we found that the plug had fallen out of the wall...its not a place we would visit again as there are many places to stay in Carmel.

good value in a great location

Friendly helpful staff.Clean room, but maid service was late in the afternoon.coffee, fruit and bagels each morning in office.Convenient parking, although there was a $10 charge.Only two blocks to Ocean Avenue, and,at most,a half mile walk to the ocean. We would stay there again.

Nice Place.

Nice location. Pleasant staff. They had trouble with their Wifi, but were getting it fixed after we left. We had two days with no Wifi, but were ok with that. The fact that they still charged $10 a day for parking was strange, they could have comped that for the lack of wifi. When you consider there were at least 6 empty parking spaces, Im not sure why they charge for parking. Overall it was enjoyable.

Nixed on Carmel!

Not great for total price of $173+

This place feels quaint and old. Needs updating. Didn't appreciate $10.00 parking fee. The pink tile in bathroom wasn't too inviting. Also, morning continental breakfast left much to be desired! Coffee was empty, no bagels when I visited the place. No Fruit. Went back for it because wasn't kept stocked up. I would not go there again!
