Great family getaway
I was very impressed with the hospitality at this location. I arrived a bit early so the room wasn't quite ready but the hotel attendant was more than helpful with suggestions to eat lunch and called me on my cell phone when the room was ready. Very impressed with the service throughout my entire stay. Had great bar service at pool as well.

Definitely check out the Gas Lamp district downtown for nightlife....they have about anything you're looking for.

Quiet place to stay
We've stayed at most places worth staying at in Carlsbad and the Hilton Garden is a repeat at least 4 times.

'Tip Top' is very unusual for Breakfast and Lunch. A little hard to find, but well worth the effort. Packed with locals so you know its good. They also provide the meats to the better restaurants in the area.

This is a wonderful family hotel!!!
This is a fantastic location. You can just walk out the doors to the beach! The kids loved the poolside movies on the weekends and waking up first thing in the morning to go walk along the beach. And the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. My 4 year old scraped his toe and needed a bandaid. The front desk assistant not only got us a bandaid, but gave him a popsicle, too! We loved it!

Problems. No compensation
There was a water leak above us and the staff kept insisting it was the a/c. Ignored our input. Our visit was personal(dying grandfather). We spent more time cleaning up the mess. On our last day we planned to see the sites w/ our family members. We did not get to because we had to pack and move to another room located on the 3rd floor. Very inconvenient w/ an infant. No compensation because the hotel was booked through Cheap Tickets. We were told there was nothing they can do. Now home and in the mail was a "coupon" for a free night on our next visit. Does us no good since we will not be back. We learned we were not the only guests having problems. However, I can see potential. The hotel is across from the beach and close to shops and sites.

R&R on miles of Pacific beaches. Dolphins, pelicans, seals providing nature show in ocean's natural habitat. Contemporary art museum. Great trails for walking running, biking. Coaster, rapid train transportation.
