One year anniversary getaway

We spent our one year anniversary at GPP, which is the same hotel that we got married at. Everything went well, except for the check-in with Rudy. Because we purchase our hotel from orbtz, Rudy was not willing to hear our request for any accommodation. He was quick to say "no." Other than that, we love this place. We love the fact that Karl Strauss was next door. Karl Strauss catered our wedding last year and they did a great job.

Don't stay on the 1st floor!

Stayed here for one night. About 7 minute walk to Legoland. Hotel was clean and new, but noisy on 1st floor. You can hear the people walking on the 2nd floor or taking showers at night, so it was difficult sleeping. There are no simple amenities like toothbrushes, shower cap, or comb. You must ask for it from housekeeping. This was a Hilton Hotel in the past so they don't accept Hilton Honor points. Free parking and free wi-fi was great. Food next door in the restaurant was OK. I rate this hotel a 3 star, definitely not a resort type.

Great Place & the Location is Wonderful

I recently stayed at this hotel for business. The facility was very clean and everything was well kept. The staff I had the opportunity to speak with were all wonderful. This is a great location to "base" out of for visits to the entire area around Carlsbad and into San Diego. If your timing is right (like mine was time in April) the flower fields that are just adjacent to and below the grounds are in full bloom and gorgeous.

Unpleasant experiences

I check into this hotel this weekend and within 30 minutes of arriving I checked out. My room was on the third floor and the room and hall ways reeked of bad pluming. The service was okay but I had a hard time getting my money back for the room I didn’t stay in. I would say if you’re planning a trip to LEGOLAND stay away from this resort.

family vacation

I like the resort as a whole very much. It offers areas for kids as well as a private pool and leisure area for adults not wanting to constantly hear children's voices cackling about. There is nice entertainment areas for families, on site laundry machines, free parking which is easy to navigate, an excellent gym facility and very nice proximity to Legoland, Costco, nearby beaches, restaurants and shopping. Also, its a very reasonable drive to San Diego and its places to see such as Seaworld, Coronado and so on. My only gripe is that I thought maid service was a bit lacking. Towels were replaced and the bed made, but the garbage in the bath wasn't tended to nor the empty shampoo bottles left on the tub edge and the coffee packets were not refilled. Not sure whether they are supposed to do that, but considering the hotel charges an additional daily resort fee I don't think its too much to ask for a bit better room servicing. That being said, I would certainly stay at this resort again.

Be careful of check-in/check-out times

My wife and I stayed at The Grand Pacific Palisades Resort during our extended Wedding Anniversary get-away weekend. We upgraded to a condo but were surprised that check-in was actually two hours later than published for the hotel, with check-out being two hours earlier. Sure was a bummer when we had to wait that extra two hours to get into our room. That loss of four hours during a two night stay impacted the value! Also, the bedroom was just off the only access corridor to the other rooms. Noisy people sure can affect your sleep. Finally, the tour offer/sales pitch proved a bit annoying.

Don't eat at the Hotel Del Coronado and expect more than ambiance. Food was mediocre and prices high.

Fabulous Resort

Quick check-in followed by toasting marshmallows and s'mores supplied by the hotel at the fire pit! We stayed in a one-bedroom suite with all the amenities. Enjoyed the heated pool and hot spa. We even used the grills to make sausages for dinner! Loved this resort and the Karl Strauss brewery and cafe on the premises and would return again if in the area.

Better than expected!

Not sure what I was expecting when I booked this hotel. I figured it was a resort by Legoland so many families with kids would have come through here and I would see an easily worn down place with worn down staff. Not true at all. This place is clean, new, and the staff was extremely friendly, not only to my wife and me but with the kids as well. The rooms are spacious and comfy and CLEAN. The pool is awesome, and you must make time for the hot tub and fire pit.
