Great Service, Good Value, Average Room
My sister and I stayed two nights while visiting family in the area. The location was a little off the main road (Palomar Airport Rd.) nestled in a business park, but for the price it was okay with me. The Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites down the street are double the cost of the Marriott Courtyard. The rooms were clean, quiet and had ample space. We had a nice 3rd floor room overlooking the pool area with two queen beds. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. My only real complaint was that the bathrooms needed updating. The yellowed cultured marble vanity and tub surround looked a little grungy. Not a big thing, but an updated bathroom would have bumped my score closer to a 4. I did appreciate the separate sink from the toilet/shower room--made getting ready in the morning easier with two people. Service was great and very responsive. Since it was in a business park, there are no restaurants within walking distance, but a breakfast buffet with waffles and omelets was available and there was a bar for cocktail hour. Fortunately, there are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and stores within a short drive. All in all, a peaceful stay.

Short drive from hotel
Up the road a mile or so from the hotel is a shopping center with a Trader Joes and Raleys. Stop in to stock up on yogurt, fruit, waters and snacks and stock them in the small fridge provided in the room. Also, the hotel has a microwave in the concession stand off the front desk for heating up meals and making popcorn.

Perfect Location and Friendly Staff
The Courtyard San Diego Carlsbad was in a perfect location for a trip to Legoland. I did miss the street to turn on to because it is poorly marked but easy to get back to. The rooms are quiet and clean. I have to appreciate the staff. My nephew had no idea where we were taking him (age 5) so when we got to the hotel the front desk staff was more than helpful by not spoiling the surprise. An added bonus was the included breakfast which included hot items like eggs, omelettes, waffles, sausage, and potatoes as well as all the staple continental items like fruit, yogurt, bread/cereal etc. Overall, a great stay. I would stay again.

Shopping tip:
Short drive from hotel
The hotel is located in a secluded area and a short drive will be necessary to get to a store or restaurant. They do however have a sundries shop where you can get little things which was helpful. The restaurants they have as suggestions are up the freeway a few exits and have great food but parking is hard to find so go early or have a few places to choose from in mind.

Great hotel and staff
Great room (suite, so our daughter and soccer teammate friend could have their own room) and breakfast. Everything was clean and nice, and the people were great. Perfect location for our soccer tournament.

Fantastic family getaway
We've stayed at this hotel before and it is always a pleasure. Service is wonderful. Rooms are quiet and always kept very clean and comfortable.

Hard to find.
Drove around for several minutes trying to find the place. Very poor signage and hidden by trees and plants until you are ready to turn in the driveway. Directions have you going the other way at the intersection.

The bad
I spent time in the pool and the trash and cigarette butts were still there from the day before. I don't smoke so I found this very disturbing. The day before departure I inquired about my bill and I was told my bill was over $500.00. I asked the reason for it and I was told that someone had reported that I was smoking in my room. I asked them why didn't they come up to the room to check? I don't smoke and I was ready to talk to the manager at that point.

GOOD HOTEL FOR LOW PRICE
THE LOCATION OF THE HOTEL WAS PERFECT BECAUSE WE WENT TO LEGOLAND (4 MILES AWAY). THERE WERE PLENTY OF RESTAURANTS IN THE AREA AND THE HOTEL STAFF GAVE US DIRECTIONS TO EACH RESTAURANT. THE HOTEL STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND THE ROOMS WERE NICE AND CLEAN. WE WOULD DEFINATELY STAY THERE AGAIN.
