Great getaway

This hotel is a lovely understated retreat! I would recommend it if you're looking for a spa in the Napa area...if your main reason for going to the area is for wine tastings you might want to consider a different hotel. The reason why is because you won't be able to fully enjoy all the hotel has to offer and it's not centrally located to most of the wineries.

GREAT LOCATION AND RESTAURANT

This was the perfect location for our wine touring in Calistoga, Rutherford, and St. Helena. Restaurant was five star at the hotel, facilities were pristine, room amenities nice, and staff pleasant. They had a room booking reservation error that was difficult to correct because booking was made through the travel company. I even spoke to the hotel prior to arrival and they still had a mix up in room types. Check in process was very long and torturous--worst complaint was that after a long day of travel reservations were mixed up and took way too long to straighten out.

Decent hotel

Fine hotel, nice rooms, fine stay, near Calistoga but not in the town - on a creek - neither awesome nor awful. A bit pricey (500/night plus hundreds for dinner), but such is Napa.

Decent but not worth the price

Nice hotel -- the pool was pool, the food was great, the help were great. Aesthetically, could have been a LOT better. Appearance: tract housing off a highway in mid of nowhere California. Fences, wide paved roads and dumpsters were the walk from the room to the pool. A creek was somewhere back there, but nowhere you'd pass without trampling on sensitive native species its sign warns you against stepping on. Wouldn't be a big deal, except for $600.00/night, a bit more thought into what the place looks like would have been nice.

Restaurant is pricey ($250, for two people when I was there), but the food's excellent & highly recommended. A nice outdoor dining experience right by the pool too.

Relaxation

The Adara king studio was amazing and worth the small amount extra. Very private and quiet and it is has a stand alone bath tub in addition to a shower. (the Vega only has a shower) Make full use of the spa and hot spring mineral pool! This is the really the specialty of the hotel and the Calistoga area. I got a facial and massage that were really top of the line. The facial really addressed my personal concerns and I felt like a whole new person coming out of the massage (and I typically cannot relax enough to enjoy massages). The hot spring mineral pool feels amazing! Although it looks the same, it has a temperature and buoyancy and feel that is completely different than your typical pool and hot tub.

The lounge menu tastes amazing and is much cheaper than the restaurant and you get to sit on the same patio. Also, portions are large - enough to split for two people.

Fantastic in every way!

Staff was beyond great! They made you feel really welcomed! Spa facility was an experience to remember. Outdoor heated pool was perfect for relaxing in the rain. Food at Solbar was one of the best dinning experience! Will definitely come back!

Dangerous meighborhood - thief broke into hotel room

I stayed at the Solage in May 2013. While I was at a wedding, $9,000 worth of camera equipment, $850 in cash and two pieces of my girlfriend's jewelry were stolen from my room. This was obviously a huge financial burden, not to mention the loss of hundreds of priceless memories stored on my camera. I have since learned that there is a high level of theft in the neighborhood and it’s clear that the hotel does not have sufficient security, which is disturbing for a “high end” hotel that I paid a lot of money to stay at. What was most shocking about this crime was how the hotel handled the problem. I reported the theft immediately, but the hotel denied any responsibility; after months of appeals, they refuse to make amends in any way. My property was stolen, my privacy invaded, and the hotel has treated me like I’m the criminal. I was defenseless and am now left without options or recompense. Be very wary of this hotel, and if you must stay there, lock up your possessions!

And it comes with Sol Bar...

Awesome, quiet eco-resort. The restaurant (Sol Bar) is amazing, with food and wine selection that might be as good as any Napa restaurant. Staff is attentive but my only complaint is that the mineral pool is only free to hotel guests IF they have booked a treatment at the spa, otherwise they charge $25. A pair of bikes comes with each room and it is a great way to go around and see/visit some wineries.
