Top of the class in wine country for hot springs
Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa is a grand world-class wine country retreat atop a natural artesian hot spring. Restorative healing mineral pools, a private golf course and the renowned Sante restaurant are highlights. Fairmont Sonoma is located in the town of Boyes Hot Springs just five minutes to Sonoma and 15 minutes to Napa Valley.
Highlights
  • One of the only U.S. luxury spa resorts using its own source of thermal mineral water
  • Michelin-starred Sante restaurant
  • Sonoma Golf and Country Club
  • Award-winning green initiatives

Won't be Back

When I booked I was looking for a one stop shop to have a birthday dinner with my wife and get massages and enjoy the complementary wine tasting in the lobby. The restrant was closed for remodeling and there was no mention of this when I booked, the spa was way over priced for what you get and they ran out of red wine during the complementary wine tasting. The lobby was cold. I'm not seeing why people think this place is so great. We don't mine paying for nice places that have some value. I won't be back and will not book through ------ since they did not disclose the resturant was under construction on their website.

We enjoyed a greeat stay, we took advantage of the car service, golf partnership and spa! All great! ONly down side was the Big 3 resturant. Food was ok, service was poor and price was over the top... tried it for dinner and lunch and it was very disappointing.

I've stayed here multiple times. The most recent December 2012 visit revealed a cut back in services, offerings and staffing that was noticeable and detracting. Still and all a one of a kind resort. RAH

Relaxing Spa Vacation

This is a lovely place that has all the comforts of a quality spa resort. The staff are extreemy helpful and friendly. They have everything that you would need, a spa, restaurants, golf. You don't really have to leave the resort to have a good time. The location is questionable. You have to be careful not to drive into the not so nice part of town. Be sure to use your GPS and plot out specific locations. Town square is quaint, be sure to eat at the Sunflower Cafe, the best food I've ever had at a cafe, you will love it! Wineries are on every corner. What a beautiful place to come visit. San Francisco is just 45 minutes away. It was the perfect balance of relaxation and activity.

Just "okay" customer service

The Fairmont Sonoma was just okay. The hotel felt understaffed. The front desk staff delivered only the most adequate level of service and information. Nothing exceptional. Having stayed at the Miramar Fairmont Santa Monica in the past, my expectations were extremely high-- and not met. The casual restaurant (called "3") is exceptional. The historic rooms are nicely sized. The staff just seemed disinterested in providing service or prioritizing guests. That being said, the property and location are lovely and quite overshadow the mediocre service, so I still recommend the hotel.

"3" restaurant is excellent. From the filet mignon to the lemon ricotta pancakes. Delightful menu. Outstanding service & staff.

Hotel Highway, bed bug infested Disappointing!

Although the hotel website portrays a quiet offset environment... the "fireplace rooms" are not that. They are located just off the main road, and you will hear cars screeching tire's all hours of the night. Also, I had room 291 and woke up with bed bug bites all over my body. This is the first time this has ever happened to me, and was extremely embarrassing. I told the hotel about it, and showed them some of the bites on my stomach, and they simply blew me of to protect their name (instead of doing the right thing)... I was mortified. So much for an expensive getaway... Truly heartbreaking!

Great Stay in Sonoma

The Fairmont Sonoma was very comfortable and charming. It is located about 5-10 minutes outside of town, but is well situated on the wine trail. The facilities are well manicured and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay at this property again.

You go for the charm....

Love Fairmont chain. However, I was not prepared for the underwhelming rooms in the historic building. Though charming, and very much a throwback to the time period, the rooms could use some attention and updating. Spa and gym were lovely, wine and cheese hour in the lobby was nice as well. Staff were courteous and gracious.
