Clean but in desperate need of updating..
The hotel was clean, but very outdated. Room was stuffy and no access to fresh air via windows...Rooms definitely need to be updated, over priced for the quality of the room... However, the room was clean which is a definite plus. Previous review stated staff was unfriendly/bored. I experienced the same w/two of the three at the front desk..Not sure I would stay here again...

Nice Getaway
Checking in was easy; however, I wasn't expecting a deposit of $50. Was advised would be place on credit card and returned when checking out. We've never had to do this with other over-night accommodations. We are not coffee drinkers and although coffee was provided in room, no tea bags were provided. Guess we should pack some. Had to go downstairs to remedy. We did have to re-arrange the TV cabinet to face the bed; otherwise we couldn't watch in the evening. The resort is located adjacent to the village so we could get around by walking(a major plus); just parked the car and walked everywhere. Queen bed was quite comfortable and linens were plentiful. Although climate was warm, there was always a cool breeze, clear sky and lots of fresh air. Very enjoyable weekend.

Convenient but depressing...
Stayed for convenience to mountain trails for biking, although hotel does not offer any specific amenities for cyclists. Staff (both hotel and restaurant) -- while functional -- lend to an overall depressing atmosphere. Restaurant staff specifically was extremely slow and unprofessional (late greeter came complete with mop and dirty water bucket then escorted us to the table -- don't eat at Stillwell's if you're in a hurry -- better options in town). This hotel is not all that old and it wouldn't take much to improve the decor, although I question what the original architect had in mind with his combination bar deck, amphitheatre and water show. Convenient if you plan on spending more time outside in the mountains or at the lake.

Overnight stay
The room was clean, however did not smell clean. Smelled old. The fitted sheet was too small for the bed (would not have stayed on when slept in) and when I asked for another set they didn't have fitted sheets left. A engineer brought up a flat sheet. Even tho I put I would recomend this hotel...there are not a lot of choices in Big Bear. If anyone knows of a better place please respond! thx!

Clean, Comfortable and Cozy
The guy at the front desk did not seem too happy to be there. When someone came to ask him where they could find some plastic silverware he made them feel stupid for asking. Time to find someone that enjoys working that front desk. A smile goes a long way. This was my second time visiting this hotel. The rooms are clean, cozy and love the fireplace. I will always come back to this hotel.
