Our stay was so relaxing and refreshing. Everything was great. The staff was especially nice. This is definitely the place to stay. The visit to the Zoo and the cruises were wonderful. The view from our room was spectacular.

Quick Trip to Big Bear

We had a great time at Lagonita Lodge and would definitely go back a second time. The staff is exceptionally friendly from the front desk to maintenance. Quick and easy check-in and check-out. It's just minutes from the ski hills and downtown, but a bit off the beaten path tucked back along the lake and individually owned homes & cabins. The room was a perfect size for our family of four. There were apparent upgrades, like the bathroom, although more are needed to complete the overhaul, i.e. an older stove and kitchen fixtures (didn't bother us though). What kind of bothered us though was that our feet were dirty from the carpet. The room was very clean, but could use a carpet cleaning. Four for maintenance for this and broken light fixture above the table and hair dryer. I'd give it a 5 otherwise because the maintenance staff perused the facilities constantly, even coming to sweep the pool and check to make sure the hot tub was the right temp for our liking. We loved that we had our own room and kids slept and hung out in the living room (sofa bed). The only complaint would be the room is not sound proof from the one above, you can hear lots of walking noise and the toilet flush is really loud, so get an upstairs one. One main reason we tried this place is the INDOOR heated pool, hot tub and rec room for the kids to play. We utilized them each day and had a blast playing at them. They have ongoing promos (i.e. ice cream social & wine & cheese reception) and they were a fun surprise. Overall, besides minor upkeep issues, it's a very cool place, cool people and cool space to stay!

Worn

Lodge personnel were very friendly; but in our opinion, there was much to be desired of the property. The vinyl siding needed a powerwash and the roof looked like it needed new shingles. The screen going out to the deck was dirty. The microwave oven airvent fell off. The lake was full of algae...did not want to swim in it; the beach was rocky; the pool was indoors (the weather was fabulous...which seemed a waste to have to swim indoors) We upgraded to a lakeview room for $30/night which was well worth it. (I would not stay at this property again if we did not have a lake view)

We had a great week there

Many of their activities take place in a 2nd floor Rec Room and there is no elevator and the stairs are very steep. So, we were unable to participate. When I complained, I was told that the building was old and was grandfathered in, since it was built before ADA. Also, if you ae expecting a sandy swimming beach, you will be disappointed. Otherwise, the accomodations are superb, clean and the employees are friendly and efficient.
