Great staff, clean room, iffy layout

I travel to LA frequently for business and this was my first time at the Avalon. While my room was very clean (if small), the motel-style layout of the hotel allows noise from the bar to drift up to the rooms. The staff, however, were phenomenal. Whether it was a problem with the room or any request that popped up, they handled everything and were quick to comp my parking when I had a problem with my room. I would stay again, though I wish it were a slightly more traditionally-layed out property.

A fantastic hotel with a great location!!

I have nothing but positive things to say about this hotel. The price is great when you think about the location, its in Beverly Hills, perfect located to all the great thing Los Angeles have to offer. Superfriendly staff, our room was perfectly cleaned every day, the rooms and the hotel looked really great and cool. A hotel I absolutly will recomand, and stay at again :) Thank you!

Excellent Venue

My stay at the Avalon Hotel was very enjoyable. It's located in luxurious Beverly Hills, and the accommodations were very comfortable. The room was large, very clean and well-maintained, and the staff offered outstanding service. The rates were reasonable, and the overall experience there was well worth the price.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The hotel is a short walk away from the heart of Beverly Hills, near all the fancy stores on Wilshire Blvd. and Rodeo Rd.

Fantastic Hideaway from the general crowds

I loved that it was a "lesser known" hotel. People on the street didn't always know about the Avalon. It's a great place for someone to get away and relax in an environment to write, dream, have intimate/ smaller business talks.

Okay for one night

I stayed at the Avalon for one night on a business trip. The room was ordinary, but comfortable. The problem I has was that I could hear the TV in the room next door and the ceiling creaked when the upstairs guests walked around which turned out to be for most of the night. No ATM, so I had to walk two blocks to the grocery store to get cash. No parking lot so I had to pay $30 for a guy to park my car in the alley outside. I am not going to use this hotel again. There are too many choices in the area.

Avalon

Had always wanted to stay at the Avalon and finally splurged and rewarded myself with a couple of nights at the Avalon on occasion of a business trip. What a disappointment!!! Not all the rooms have balconies as the hotel website makes you believe they do, $30 valet parking/night and that is just the beginning. The noise from the restaurant around the pool area is unbearable and unescapable. Be prepared to be up until 1:00am and get up at 6:30 (which is when the cleaning crew arrives to take care of the mess from last night's party). The decor? 'Mid century architecture and design'? If this is it then I'm glad it is 2011 and design has moved on. But that is certainly a matter of taste. No balcony, party noise and noisy cleaning crews are just unacceptable (at any price). Definitely not something to stay at when on a business trip (and nothing for a romantic weekend either) and definitely never staying there again.

Beverly Hills Find!

Plush towels, more than ample supply. great robes balconey to sit out in the morning and drink a cup of coffee in peace. Our room was right next to the elevator,so it was a little noisy, but the hotel was quiet in general. Pool area was beautiful but we did not use it. Valet parking was FAST.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

Walking around Beverly Hills was great - so many houses that were unique. Don't forget the 'Beverly Hills sign'. The best was Santa Monica - drive down and park at the pier, ride bikes up and down the coast, good restaurants on the pier. At night we did the '3rd st promenade'. We LOVED Santa Monica.

Business meetings.Great hotel. Great service. Great fitness room. Great location to major studios, businesses and happening in LA.Parking rates were very high and it was difficult for my guest to park when they visited. [...] between the hotel parking fees, internet fees and rental car service fees I was nickel and dimes back up to regular price.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Figure out a better parking situation. $30 per night is way too much on top of a rented car.
