California Best Inn

My daughter and I stayed here because we were going to Kernville the next day to go whitewater river rafting the next day and didn't want to drive a long way the same day. I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone... It took about 20 minutes for the water to get hot in the bathroom to shower--my daughter had already given up! When we tried to call the office to see if we could find out what was wrong we found out the phone didn't work. The so called continental breakfast consisted of cheap (still) frozen white bread, margarine, squezable jelly, two cheap generic cereals, Sunny D, and watery milk. The worst continental breakfast that I've ever had was donuts--and that was a better than this! It looked like the maid NEVER looked behind the bathroom door let alone cleaned back there! We could've stayed at the Garden Hilton or whatever it's called for a couple of dollars more--but chose this place because it included a "continental breakfast." We were sorry. And don't forget the crackheads and other unsavory looking people....

Nice room, helpful staff.

Upon pulling onto the hotel property confusion set in and I began to wonder which photoshop application was used in the photos provided online for this hotel. There were rift raft on all sides of the property, unsightly trash bins in clear view and a trashy motocross pool party going on. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful but that was the only plus of my stay. There was a fly in my room, hair on my pillow and the room had an overall filthy feel too it. The pool party went on till late hours of the night and once that was over the noise on the premisis never stopped. I do not recommend staying here.

The California Best inn is an excellent hotel to stay in. It was very clean and safe! The best part was the excellent customer service from the front desk staff, especially Ronny The staff was so friendly, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bakersfield.

This was a very nice hotel. I really liked the way they renovated it. It is very different than the chain hotels. The bed was very comfortable. I loved the shower as well. If I have to stay in Bakersfield again I would definitely stay here.

We stayed here for a couple of weeks waiting for my job to open so we could move permantly. [...], the owner, is a wonderful an who is a nice, compassionate, and very understanding owner. He works hard to keep his hotel in very good shape. He makes sure his guests have an enjoyable stay. Would defintely stay here again!!!!

We used this hotel for sleepover to continue travel in the morning. Easy access. Staff very nice, we had late arrival. We reserved a smoking double room, however due to the late arrival and my crutches the staff wanted to give us nice no smoking king room up front. Well we really needed a smoking room and took the room in the back. Some night traffic and noise and the room was not in the best condition. Appreciate the effort of the staff to give us the best available room - but we chose based on our needs.

If you're just looking for a reasonable place to sleep and shower this was a fairly good bargain. Bring your own alarm clock, hair dryer and iron. Room was clean. We were in town for drag races at Famosa about 20-25 minute drive.
