Pricey for the accomodations
Went to Catalina for the first time and stayed here for two nights. Nothing really stands out as being particularly bad about the experience with the hotel, though I would warn future guests that you're looking at spending about $500 for two nights that will get you a room and a breakfast that's about the equivalent quality of a Motel 6 back on the mainland. I know that Catalina carries a tourist/sucker price tag with it but for off-season rates I'd like to have a little more bang for my buck than I got out of this place. Don't think I'd stay here again.

Stop by CC Gallagher after dinner for drinks and desserts. Delicious desserts and really great beer selection, decently priced.

Great Location! Room needs some updating
Overall it was a nice stay. The room was dated, but clean. Great rooftop patio with new lounge chairs - great to watch the sun go down with a bottle of wine from the local wine shop. Nice jacuzzi tub, but the shower was odd as there was no curtain.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
Go on the Cape Canyon Tour through Discover Tours. It was a 4 hour tour on a tricked out Hummer with stadium-like seating. It was AMAZING! A great way to see the rest of the island! Be sure to take your camera as the sights are breathtaking!

Horrible, cold water, tv connections are horrible then they sent in a tweaker to change out the tv we kept saying its the connections not the tv. small rooms breakfast was bland and basic! its only a couple blocks from beach thou but when your trying to sleep at night they put us by a road so all we heard was traffic all night!

Couples Only
The hotel is quaint. That means small. It is old in a comfortable way. The stairs to the relaxing outdoor lounge and the sun/star deck are narrow and steep. The staff is great. Any request is met with enthusiasm to please. More modern windows would lessen the street noise. Catalina is a party town and they go all night.(Those darn golf carts!)Good thing we were making our own noise on that lovely four poster bed.

Stay away from the Catalina Cantina. $$$ Worse than cafeteria food, and they charged us for the chips and salsa. $40 for one plate, one drink, and chips & salsa.
