Motel 6 Arcata - Humboldt Univ

Everything was good. The hotel was right around the corner of the school. Near food restaurants. My wife and I enjoy going to casinos and the Blue Lake Casino was not far. Overall, it was a great choice.

This was our first visit to a Motel 6, and one of the few times I've ever been to a budget motel. Poster child of "you get what you pay for." The Good: Clean room, no rowdy people, no bugs, no smoking in the room, lots of hot water and good volume. The Bad: $90 per night in the sticks (2X normal rate) because of graduation weekend and all the other hotels sell out, no shampoo or cream rinse, tiny bath towels, tiny bar soap, 25 year old TV, clientele smoked like mad all over the property (except in the rooms, thank God), no cereal or bagels in the morning, odd requirement of everyone needing to show ID (are they trying to keep the hookers out?).

No clock radio, no phone, no microwave, ice machine was broken, no nothing.

This hotel is in the midst of hotel row (lots of others around), but staff here made it great. Very attentive and friendly.

No thing provided in the tiny room, not even a hair drier, except a 15 yr old TV.

The motel was not as close to HSU as promised; the staff was not friendly or even helpful; we booked and were confirmed for two nights, but moved from our room after one; it's obvious that people are living there so you'd better get in early or risk losing your parking to others (many of whom enjoy taking multiple spots with a single vehicle). Don't try bringing this to the attention of the management for you will only be told (with an attitude) that you just need to park your vehicle on the road, which is not very encouraging at all (I moved EVERYTHING out of my car). In all honesty I knew this was a motel 6 and not to expect much. It was a place to stay. But this was so bad that in retrospect I would have gladly dished out the extra $30 or $40 to stay at a better chain. Enjoy!

We had an enjoyable stay stay at the Arcata Motel 6 . The Room was clean and comfortable. The only complaint I had was the shower aws very small and it was hard to manage a shower in .Also the television options were limited , but I suppose that is up to the Management.All in all the area had easy access to Dining and stores and the Freeway access was close by.I would stay again.

I knew when I booked here that it wasn't going to be an *awesome* hotel. I was OK with that. However, we opened up the door to our room and it stunk so bad of pot that it was unbearable. I went back in and asked for a new room. The new room was OK, but still had lingering cigarette smoke smell. There also isn't a bath tub, just a shower. I guess I didn't realize this when booking, or it didn't say otherwise? But, having a little 2 year old who hates showers made it a bit difficult. I could have waited to bathe her at the house we were renting a little ways off the next day, but we spent the whole day in the Redwoods, so she was dirty. We have been to other Motel 6's, and they have a microwave and fridge in the room. This one, however, did not. Once again, while a small child, this makes it a bit difficult. I definitely will not be staying here again. It has also made me more aware that I need to call and ask a hotel/motel if they have certain amenities if it doesn't say online before I book it.

Attending our grandson's HSU graduation, Arcata Motel 6 was most conventiently located. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and within walking distance of several fast food outlets. An enjoyable stay.

Our two-night stay was just fine. The Motel 6 in Arcata met our needs for a clean, comfortable, reasonably quiet, conveniently located, and lower-priced motel. Our queen-sized bed was comfortable enough and everything worked fine in the newly remodeled bathroom (note -- there is only a modern, one-piece shower and no hair dryer was available, much to the chagrin of my wife). All in all, nothing fancy, but a decent place to stay. Would certainly return.
