Great place to stay!
Very nice hotel for the price. Our son enjoyed swimming in the pool (the water was a little cold though). There is a pretty good, free breakfast. We really liked the front desk clerk, he was very helpful with directions to the Redwoods!

This was my first time to this area and the room was clean enough, breakfast consisted of carb (bread, bagel, muffins) and some cereal. The beds were ok but they had two pillows per queen bed which seems enough but another pillow would not hurt.

Good stay
The hotel staff was very very friendly. The hotel was very clean and provided free breakfast. The hotel also had a swimming pool & jaccuzy and small workout room. The hotel was near Humboldt college which was our reason for going to Arcata.

Value was okay"---What you see is what you get...breakfast is all carbo and caffeine...fairly clean but everything is mediocre---but that's what you'd expect for the price...Staff was friendly and professional

Quiet getaway
We went to get away and see some forests and the Northwest coast line. The Community Forest of Arcata was dense and amazing in the magnificent redwood trees. The hotel is close to other sights up the coast as well as south. We had a peaceful lunch up in Trinidad and explored Patrick's Point with its beautiful rocks and scenery. We just scratched the surface of all there was to see up in this part of Northern California and can't wait to go back there.

nice place, great staff
A little older, but a clean decent place to stay. Jim at the front desk was very informative and friendly. He told us about a gray whale in the Klamoth River that was really cool to see.

Looking for Adventure
Pleasantly Surprised!
This is our first stay at a Howard Johnson and we were pleasantly surprised! Jeff the manager was quite friendly and helpful and was truly interested in his customers! We got a nice ground floor suite which just happened to be a handicap room so there was extra space to move around, a little fridge, microwave, etc. The room was CLEAN - thank goodness! This is really my only want/need when traveling and Howard Johnson delivered! The bed was comfy though the pillows were somewhat flat. The pool was clean and the temperature spot on! Great location as well - right off the freeway, easy to find, easy parking. Breakfast was served in the morning and there was an abundance of choices - way more than we expected for a "continental" breakfast. Overall you can't beat the price, location, friendly staff, and CLEANLINESS of Arcata Howard Johnson!
