Although it's known as one of the Anaheim Disneyland hotels, The Red Lion Hotel Anaheim offers the humble atmosphere of a friendly California inn, and business travelers will appreciate the 5,000-square-feet of event space and free Wi-Fi (fees may apply) throughout the property. The sleek, glass-walled hotel greets its guests with comfy low-rise chairs on the terraces and swaying palms out front. Making a play on its name with the Roaring Start breakfast, the Red Lion also makes the most of its location, with outdoor fire pits to keep guests toasty-warm while watching the weekend Disney fireworks. There's a relaxed family feel to Red's Pasta Kitchen, and the outdoor pool offers heated luxury until 9:00pm every night.

Not a 4 star hotel

The hotel room was not at all anywhere close to 4 stars. It's was an average room, sheets felt sticky, AC unit and corners of walls were very dusty. AC didn't work all that well. Desk chair was very filthy. Carpet looked old. The only great thing about this hotel was that it was located in good walking distance to the Disneyland park. If you want a cheap stay in Anaheim, this is the place. But if you're looking for a more cleanliness environment and a more luxurious hotel, stay far away from this one. It's more of a 2.5-3 star hotel.

Family of 5

Overall the stay was nice. The room was small but comfortable and really if you are going to Disneyland how much time are you going to be spending in your room. The one thing that I found was difficult was the distance to the park from the hotel. It says it is a block and a half but it is a really really really long block. I have 3 small children and it took us a while to walk to the park every morning (more then 30 mins some days). And then after a long day at the parks it was an even longer walk back. There is a ART shuttle that will pick up in front of the hotel and we ended up using that the last day. We only had one problem with the drain in the bathtub but it was fixed promptly. Overall it was a nice stay but we probably won't book again for our next trip and will get a closer hotel to the parks.

Excellent Value

Pros: -Clean and comfortable bedding - the bathroom was set up nicely and was clean - the decor is modern and useful -spacious - the cost was almost half what others paid who were only 1 block closer to the event center Cons: - carpet was dirty (bring some slippers to save your socks) - at times the staff seemed more interested in talking to each other than serving customers (e.g. while waiting in line there were 4 staff members behind the counter but only one was actually working). - wake up calls are not automated; I waited on hold for 10 minutes to make this simple request. Overall it was an excellent value

Red Lion Anaheim

Pros: Location was the best part about this hotel. McD's and Starbucks only a couple mins away. Easy access to I-5 if you have to travel. Disney was only a couple blocks away. Cons: Room wasn't clean. We moved one of the beds against the wall and there was animal crackers and tons of dust below the bed. I had to call on the 4th day of our stay to request new bedding and they forgot! Ugh!! Parking was $15.00/day, which was kind of shocking.

Good hotel, could be better

This was my second time staying at this hotel. The first time, a year prior was great. During this visit I started noticing things that could have been better. The metal latch on the door was broken and barely hanging on the door frame. (This is probably due to people flipping it open and letting the door close on it so they don't have to use their key to re-enter, but it didn't make me feel safe at all). I also noticed some of the wall paper peeling. One of the elevators would move when you stepped into it. The clock radio in the room didn't work, so I called to have it replaced (honestly I just wanted the nature sounds feature on it) and they ended up replacing it with a radio without the nature sounds. Overall, it's a nice hotel. The rooms are pretty nice and except for the broken lock on the door it was a good stay. I was staying there for a convention and it was within good walking distance to the convention center. There is an IHop next door, I didn't eat at the hotel. The staff seemed a bit frazzled during check-in which is something that shouldn't happen. The staff signed me up for the rewards program since I had stayed there previously, which was nice of them. I was being dropped off at the hotel & wouldn't need a parking pass ($14 a day), they raised a bit of a stink about us needing a parking pass for a few hours, but eventually they let us have it without having to pay the overnight fee.

There is the Ihop next door, a few other food options for quick pick up breakfast & dinner meals a short walk up the road. A further walk and you will find better sit down restaurants (Cheesecake Factory, Bubba Gump Shrimp)

It was just okay

Unfortunately I expected better for a four star place. The staff was wonderful, but we had issues with the room. The walls seemed paper thin, as we could hear conversations from the room next to us, the adjoining door would rattle every time they left the room, and we also didn't know they allowed pets. There was a constantly barking dog across the hall, that did nothing for our attempt at relaxation. We also had to deal with cold showers. The location was good though. We could walk the three blocks to Disneyland or take the bus. Overall it was just okay. It was our honeymoon, and because it was rates 4 stars, I was expecting a higher end experience, but that just didn't happen.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

If your feet are tired, take the ART number 6 to go back and forth from the hotel to Disneyland, but if you can manage, it's faster to walk.
