Overview

Bought by Disney in 1995 and introduced as the Disneyland Pacific Hotel, it became the Disney Paradise Pier Hotel Anaheim in late 2000 and recalls the grand seaside resorts of an earlier era, with beachball-bright decor in the rooms and features like the rooftop water slide full of trademark Disney whimsy. Slurpin' USA! provides the informal poolside sandwiches and hot dogs while Surfside Lounge serves the more sophisticated cocktail crowd. Make sure the kids are at breakfast in Disney's PCH Grill - you can often eat your waffles alongside heroes from Stitch to Donald Duck. Utilise the best of the Disney Grand Californian next door with a well-earned trip to the Mandara Spa but make sure you're back at the Paradise Pier pool deck by evening for the firework displays (selected nights).

Not Worth The Money

Would not recommend Sun, Jan 17, 2016
If you really want to be close to the Disney Parks and have early entry, then this would be the least expensive option of the three onsite hotels. That said, I am not sure it is worth the inflated price tag we pay when here over special events like race weekends. We have stayed at the Disneyland Hotel before and loved it, but we wanted to be a bit closer to the parks and the kids love the views from the Paradise Pier, so we opted for here for our Star Wars race weekend. This is my second time staying here and we have had the same problems we had when here previously. We have luke warm showers at 7am, which is not a great way to start the day. We had the same problem last trip when we stayed here. Maintenance came by last trip and said everything was fine, it was just because so many people were showering at that time in the morning...Really?! It's a hotel- Are they not properly quipped to handle guests showering?! This trip the same thing happened. We called maintenance again, but were not in our room to see if they did in fact come by. The next morning I showered about an hour later and had hot water, so I don't know if they fixed something, or if less people were showering. The bell hops in the front were less than helpful, one of them verging on rude when we asked for a cart/help with our luggage. The first woman who checked me in was pleasant, but not efficient with the process and kept asking me the same questions about my phone number, names on reservations, and ages. I understand it was a bit of an unusual check in as I had four separate reservations for our entire stay, which meant four sets of keys. But I have done it this way for multiple trips at the Disneyland Hotel and have never had any issues. Even after I wrote everything down on paper she still put in the wrong info. Our room was not ready when I first checked in, which I expected because it was very early. I was told I would get a text when it was ready. Within 10 minutes I had a phone call it was ready, but said I would need to come get new keys because it was a different room. So I went through the entire process again, and get another four sets of keys a second time which was very frustrating and time consuming. When we got to the room we were very disappointed with the premium view. We were on the 11th floor, but very far on the end away from California Adventure. Due to trees and the angle we basically had no view of the World of Color, which was a big reason we stayed here. We could have asked to be moved but we were so tired of hauling our luggage around (after giving up on the bellhops), and of dealing with maybe a third check in process with different keys if they moved rooms, we didn't bother to ask about changing. It was a race weekend so I highly doubt they could have moved us. The rooms themselves seem a bit smaller than the Disneyland Hotel and are definitely showing their age. It was well cleaned, however, and housekeeping did a great job setting up my kids stuffed animals and blankets on their beds in cute positions. The elevators can be a bit slow, and the cafe eating area was not well cleaned. There were crumbs/trash on the tables and floor. I understand the high prices are due to the location and being Disney, but I would expect cleanliness in public areas, hot showers and friendly, efficient service in the lobby to come with that high price tag. While we are happy we didn't stay at the Disneyland Hotel (the pools are closed for construction which we would not have known prior to arriving), in the future we will likely find some place else to stay as it doesn't seem worth the money to stay at Paradise Pier.

Least expensive of the very expensive Disney hotels

Would recommend Sat, Dec 19, 2015
We've stayed at Paradise Pier twice in the past two years. The price is really high for this standard hotel, but it is always incredibly clean and the staff is wonderful. For the holidays, there are always activities going on in the lobby like frequent visits from Santa and caroling singers. There is some value in getting into the park an hour early everyday and having just a short walk to the park. One gripe I have is the $18/night parking fee in their garage which isn't gated or monitored at all.

Excellent location

Would recommend Wed, Dec 16, 2015
The hotel is literally a 10 minute walk from both Disneyland and California Adventure. Yay. Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. But if you are expecting Disney World amenities, you will be disappointed. Gift shop had limited hours. Options for breakfast were slim. And there was no sound insulation anywhere - one can clearly hear everything that the next door neighbor does and says. And one can clearly hear the garbage truck that empties the dumpster at 5:20am every morning.

Great Location

With two small children needing naps this hotel was a great location. Cost is very high indeed and except for the children I would not stay there. If you pay extra for a view of California Adventure, ask to be placed where you can see the park better, not at the far end of the 12th floor, Room 1244, where you had a side view of the Water/Light Show and could not see the ferris wheel all lit up with Mickey's face. As it was above the intersection to in front of the California Hotel the traffic noise was great.

Great Place to Stay - Convenient!

Would recommend Fri, Dec 4, 2015
If you're going to Disneyland, you're going to be paying more than usual for everything - from the ticket to get in to a balloon...BUT you get what you pay for. Those balloons last for MONTHS, and my son 'plays' with his every day (punches it, really). So....are you paying a lot? Yup. BUT you're super close to the park, you can pay for everything with your room key (who needs a purse?), and your purchases can actually be sent to your room - super convenient when you don't want to be loaded down like a personal concession stand. Love this place and always stay here when we come to D-land!

Not Worth the Money

Would not recommend Sun, Nov 8, 2015
I booked this hotel so that we could experience all that Disneyland had to offer. It was an attractive hotel with attractive rooms, but the beds were extremely uncomfortable and the WiFi was nonexistent. They even moved us to another room closer to the access point, but we still could not stay connected. Also, the phone didn't work and the remote to the TV didn't work. You also have to pay $18 a day to park in their lot which seems absolutely rediculous to me considering how much you are paying to stay their. Staying off site and taking a shuttle to the front gates gets you closer to the entrance and is much cheaper. You also don't have to pay for parking at off site hotels. The 15 minute walk from Paradise Pier, across the street, winding through the Grand hotel and then through downtown Disney got to be exhausting after 3 days. I won't stay there again. I may consider the Grand as it was stunning as viewed from our walk through it to get to the Disneyland entrance, but it would still be a bit of a jaunt to the front gates.

Great location but old rooms

Would not recommend Fri, Nov 6, 2015
It's nice to have the Disney perks, but the rooms are very old. Ours wasn't the cleanest with sticky door handles and closet doors, DVD player didn't work and sounded like it had rocks in it, and shower water wouldn't turn off completely, just kept running. House keeping did arrive to clean our room, but I already wiped it down. It need a renovation, especially for the price you have to pay to stay there. Next time I'll spend the extra money and try the grand. Hopefully there you get what you pay for.
