What a way to retire
This was a weekend to celebrate retirement and it couldn't have been better. The best part of staying at this hotel was that I really did feel like I was their guest and not just another hotel person. Every cast member I encountered treated me like they were happy to have me there. The only disappointment was their room pillows. They were too hard and could not get comfortable with them. They need to offer a variety of softness to select from. The hotel restaurant was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen in a resort hotel and the food complemented the decor. Keep up the great work Disney, you really do make dreams come true.

Not So Grand
Would not honor my Orbitz Theme Park View as paid for and said that I should talk to Orbitz about that, basically passing the buck. Check in clerk seemed confused and unorganized. Sensing my frustration, they did give me a Disney Fastpass. About the rooms, seem outdated, especially the bathroooms. If you dont want to deal with transportation, this is a good place to stay . I would stay there again at the right price.

It's a splurge, but well worth it
The hotel was phenomenal! It was a big splurge (for one day while we were California's Adventure park) but it was worth the in and out privilages. The kids had a great time at the pool (which had a waterslide) on our checkout day. We will be back when we save up again.

The Full Disney Experience
Upon arrival at the Grand Californian, I was extremely impressed with the way the front desk handled check in. There was a person there to greet you and to get your name, other info, etc. and then wait with you and walk with you over to the next available check in counter. Then they gave your information to the person at the check in counter so you didn't have to. I thought that was a nice touch. Of course, the little kid-sized armchairs in front of the tv playing Disney movies is just adorable not to mention being an instant attraction to the kids and helps keep them entertained while waiting. Although the rooms are just average, I would still definitely stay at the Grand if going to Disneyland, you just can't beat the convenience.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
The Disney store in Downtown Disney pretty much has almost everything so there's no need to shop while in Disneyland and you can save the time while inside the park to do other activities.

Excellent for a Gals Getaway
Easy entrance to California Adventure, early morning entrance to Disneyland for guests and easy access to Downtown Disney make this hotel a number one. That, plus the fact that the employees are friendly and helpful. The staff was able to accommodate my requests for three rooms with 2 queens each and 2 connecting rooms. The weekend couldn't have been better.

Grand Californian- April 2011
We went for my son's 8th birthday. We wanted something really special that he would remember for the rest of his life. I am sure it was that, for him, but I was really unimpressed with the accomodations for the amount of money that we spent. It was great having the portal into California Adventure, the Redwood pool was a hit, the staff was incredible, and we had an amazing dinner at the Napa Rose. Only the room left something to be desired, and only because of the price. We have stayed in much nicer ROOMS for much less money. The hotel was great, overall. Just not the best deal for the amount of money you are spending.

Short walk from hotel
If you would like to have a fine-dining experience, but are traveling with small children, I strongly suggest Pinnochio's Workshop. They have video games, crafts, and food, plus they took the kids to see the fireworks. My son loved it and the staff was SUPER!!!
