Simple, but good.
If you are looking for a place to stay that is simple, this place is fine. There was nothing special or surprisingly bad. The room was clean, staff were polite, and the location is great if you have a car and know where you are going. There is nothing within walking distance, but you are just a short drive to "downtown" Alameda, Jack London Square in Oakland, and about a 20 minute drive from SF. There is a marina just outside the hotel.

Alameda island work trip
The hotel photos show some rooms upgraded with new linens and such, but I didn't get one and I was told all the beds are pretty much the same when I tried to switch after the first night. The bed was old and lumpy, the linens very old and suspect and the pillows were also old and thin. The internet (which was $4.99 for your stay) was super slow; according to the front desk the whole hotel shares one IP address...that was probably the issue. Would probably pay a little more to get a better bed and faster internet somewhere else.

It was ok, due to the fact that they gave me a room other than i reserved and paid for (undersized).

Stained carpeting,dingy bedspread greeted my arrival. The mattress was lumpy and needs to be replaced. I understand that Extended Stay is for the longer term guest, but it was a little disturbing to return to my room after the first night to note that it had not been cleaned (instructions on the desk to request daily cleaning at additional cost). I would not stay here again!

East Ocean Seafood (Asian). Inexpensive and good quality although they did have an additional $4.85 charge on the bill which was removed when I questioned it ( don't know if this was intentional or not)

Extended Stay America Oakland-Alameda
Unpleasant experience The room had an awful smell. After turning on fans, opening windows, it did not go away. Tried to get another room, but was handed a can of aerosol spray instead. Do not recommend. It was a horrible experience.

Good Place To Stay. Good Value
My wife and I stayed here while we attended the City Lights Cruise. We stayed with 2 other couples while celebrating a friends Bday. The front desk clerk ([...]) was a great help in accomidating our room requests for having a large group. The hotel was nice and clean and the view of the water was a plus. We will definitely be back.

Ther is a bar/grill/restraunt near by called the Pelican. Its near the docks and had great food and strong drinks. Order the German Chocolate Cake Shot. You'll love it.

AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF $3.00 PER DAY TO HAVE CLEAN TOWELS AND THE BED MADE. THE ROOM HAS A KITCHEN AREA BUT THERE WAS MINIMAL SILVERWARE, NO TEASPOONS. NO DISH DETERGENT.
