Not what I expected!

The hotel was convienently located to walk downtown. For the price of a standard room at nearly $200 a night, we were very disapointed in the exterior condition of the hotel and a 'very plain looking room.' I could have gone to a Super 8 motel and acheived the same look! The hotel mostly caters to out of state and foreign visitors who ride the train to the Grand Canyon. The hotel and railroad was operated by the same company. I would not recommend staying at the hotel.

could have been better

This hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. No Wi-Fi or high-speed internet access in the rooms- only dial up. Most hotels offer Wi-Fi or High-speed in the rooms, so this was a great disappointment, especially for a vacation traveller trying to check weather and confirmations for the next day. There was no pen or pad in the room to take notes on, which is also something that is usually provided in hotel rooms. They recycle, which is nice, but the soap and shampoo provided is in a gym shower-like dispenser and not in individual bottles. overall, as we got the room cheap, it was an ok exeprience, but not worth the full price that they advertise on their website. They could not verify pre-payment so had to pay and then deal with it later when we got home.

Grand Canyon railway Hotel.

There is absolutely no name of the hotel at the premises. If you didn't have the address you would never find it. The buffet there was below average and food was almost tasteless. Not the place to eat unless you don't have transportation to go elsewhere.

Getaway

Everyone was friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. Surprisingly, our room was located near the railroad and it was very quiet. Breakfast was available at the railroad cafe for a reasonable price. Everything in the buffet you can image. Along with made to order egg omelets. Plenty of dining options within walking distance of the hotel. Also, plenty of parking space available. Pet hotel available if you had pets and wanted to ride the train to the Grand Canyon.

Uneventful stay

We did not spend a whole lot of time at the hotel except for resting after spending time at the Grand Canyon. This hotel is about 45-60 minutes from the Grand Canyon National Park entrance. The pool was small but it was enough to relax after the long days. There is also a very nice mini gym but I doubt it gets used much since walking in the Grand Canyon is in itself a good exercise.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

This hotel is in Williams, AZ. The town organizes a Wild West show during the summer months. It is very entertaining to watch it if you have kids.

Weekend getaway

We stayed in Williams and took the Grand Canyon Railway to the Grand Canyon. 2 1/2 hours there and back with entertainment on the train. It was a great time. Williams is a fun town with gunfights in the streets. The hotel was across the parking lot from the depot. The service at the hotel bar was not the best. Requested a working remote for tv but not such luck.

Better than expected!

Hotel was very clean. Lobby area is nice with comfortable couches. Rooms were a bit dated but very clean and comfortable. Dinner buffet looked like your basic buffet food. Opted to eat elsewhere. Surprised that they required my paid third party reservation receipt to check in. Fortunately I had printed it out and brought it. Overall, it was better than I expected. It is not a swanky high end hotel but it is one that I would feel comfortable recommending.
