Budget Grand Canyon Trip

While staying in Las Vegas, I wanted to visit the Grand Canyon, but I didn't want to just spend a few hours, I wanted to spend a full day. The 3 hour drive from Vegas to Williams, plus the additional 1 hour for crossing a time zone means that I'd have to spend 6 hours driving in 1 day, which makes it hard to really enjoy this park without feeling rushed. The Days Inn at Williams is right off the highway and is right next to a Denny's. The hotel has a heated pool and spa (closes at 10:30 BUT they really didn't chase us out when we left at our own accord at 10:45), and there are plenty of free wireless access points to chose from. Williams is 1 hour away from the Grand Canyon. We left the hotel at 6:45am and got to park right up in front of the main visitor's center before we set out to hike down into the canyon. This proved to be awesome because when we left the park, we noticed that this park gets crowded FAST so getting there early is essential. The Day's Inn at Williams is best for those who are looking for a place to stay while visiting the Grand Canyon. It's probably one of (if not the outright) cheapest places to stay if you want to visit the Grand Canyon. The fact that the rooms come with a small coffee maker (enough for 1 serving of coffee for two people), has a heated pool, serves breakfast (toast, cereal, donuts, muffins, OJ, Apple Juice, Milk, Oatmeal), and has free wireless internet really make this a great deal. It's not a resort by any means, but it's a great value for what you get.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

After a long day at the Grand Canyon, why not get a delicious pizza at the Pizza Factory in Williams (Google it). It's on the same road as the Day's Inn and you can get a medium two-topping pizza with two sodas for less than $20. That was good enough for my brother and myself after a hiking the Grand Canyon for a day!
