Motel value

Good value compared to other motels in immediate area. Great access to town and airport. Good size rooms, everything works and clean. Modern enough. No free breakfast, but kitchen room for much less than Embassy. The only "however" is the excessive street noise disturbed sleep every night. Is that due to the good location or the night folks of Tucson?

Great value, convenient, clean

Stayed 6 nights. All suites with kitchens. Super clean facility both in rooms and common areas. Everything well above average. Only negative is I had room on front of building and traffic very noisy. The "varsity" part means it's all decorated in common areas in collegiate sports motif, which is slightly funny unless you're into that. Would go back and would recommend.

Terrific Suite!

The Varsity Inn is a great place to spend a few days with family. The suites are generously sized and boast a beautifully equiped kitchenette with a nearly full size refrigerator, two burner stove, microwave, and coffeemaker. There was a television in both the bedroom and the living room - a little on the old side, but they worked just fine. The bathroom even had a jetted tub! The only problem we had with our suite was an exhaust fan with shot bearings in the bathroom. We told the front desk staff upon checkout and as we were leaving they were sending maintenance up to fix it. The staff is friendly and efficient. The parking lot is a bit small and quite crowded when we were there, but we always managed to find a space.

Excellent place to rest.

The staff was very nice and friendly. The room was clean, quiet and with everything necessary to make breakfast or lunch. I didn't use the amenities so I can't say anything about that. I came to know the University with my daughter and the hotel was great to rest.

Good deal and good hotel

We were very pleased with our stay. The only problem we had at all - we were close to the cleaning/maintainance room and the cleaning gals were pretty loud at about 8am every morning. Other than that we had a good experience.

Dorado a very inexpensive golf course that has 8 par 4's and the rest par 3. This was a great course for my wife since she is pretty new at golf.

Hotel

Refrigerator, toaster, sinks modern: Hotel had no continental breakfast or restaurant. Pools look pleasant enough. Located on a busy street, but only convenient to the University, but not to any of the usual destinations. Far from Interstate. Room was generally clean, but the carpet hadn't been done. Pillows offered no support - all fluff. Average comfort. Staff was a bit loony. Room key was mis-coded and was locked out second night. Cleaning staff would operate noisy cleaning equipment after 10 PM and I had to get dressed to alert manager that people had to sleep during normal sleeping hours. Sometimes difficult to find staff at the service desk. I booked soon before arrival so the value wasn't great. Pool looked good, but didn't use. Parking was difficult and barely accommodated all who stayed there. Always had a long walk. Wi-Fi was OK, but took some effort to get online. Average quality hotel, that is newish so still looks good. I wouldn't avoid the place, but it doesn't seem to have "professional staff". A few changes would have made the ratings higher. It was generally clean.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Friorito is an excellent small restaurant. Interesting menu, great wine list, but even has one of America's finest pizzas. Would generally eat there every other night when in town and not be bored of the choices.
