Very unpleasant experience

Very dirty, carpet stained, changed room, lamp switch was missing, cigarrette burn on bed cover, curtain hooks were out of its rail. Requested morning wake up call at 2;30 am in order to take our son to the airport, noone called, almost missed the flight. We acturally want to ask for a refund. We strongly suggest that you do NOT recommand this motel.

I'm glad I found this hotel.

I was impressed, the check in staff was prompt and courteous, and the lobby décor was nice. The hotel was easy to find and conveniently located. It ideally suited what I was looking for, the bed was comfortable, the room décor surprisingly nice, clean, with amenities that you usually only find in the nicer hotels. An expanded breakfast bar with eggs and bacon along with the usual pastries and cereal, even a DIY waffle station (which I wish I had seen first). My only mild complaints are the quality of the pillows, standard for a hotel, but I wish they were nicer and the parking lot is a little tight. I will certainly stay here again; it beat out the “boutique hotel” we stayed at in Phoenix this weekend by a mile. That hotel cost 3X as much and wasn’t as clean or courteous and didn’t have most of the amenities the Flamingo did.

Better than I expected!

It was my birthday the weekend that we stayed over. At first glance, you would think that this is just any other cheap hotel. The lobby has a cool, retro look and the rooms are updated with a modern vibe. The staff was friendly and very helpful. On our last morning there, someone outside was running a lawnmower or weed wacker at 6:30 a.m.! I called to complain to the front desk and they took care of it right away. The beds were very comfortable and they have a complimentary breakfast, which was ok. All in all, we had a great stay and the price was just right. No complaints here. Thanks to the staff!

Tucson has an event downtown called "Second Saturdays" where they have vendors on the streets and entertainment galore. A fun thing to check out if you are there around that time.

Good hotel for the area

The hotel room was OK though I asked for a room switch when I first got there since the original room was not cleaned up. The lighting is very dim in the bathroom with no direct lights above the mirror, making it hard to use this mirror. There was another mirror outside the bathroom which was much better. The breakfast was fine, but the pool was unavailable for use while we were there.

Excellent Accomodations!

This is one of the old Flamingo Hotels, bought and renovated by Choice Hotels Corp. Id have to say they did a fantastic job remodelling the rooms. I've never even seen a recently built hotel room this nice: flat screen tv, plush pillows, true color painted walls, a mini-fridge and microwave in every room. It was truly a nice place to stay, they even serve Hot prepared continental breakfast. If I had to be partial and supply two negatives, it would be the light in the bathroom was dark and had to go through a warming up phase before it was bright and it had one of those always on bathroom fans. Also, you have to go to the front desk to get ice. But I forgot to mention, the hotel staff is also incredibly nice as well. They give you a courtesy call after you check-in to ask if all your accomodations were met! I had a great stay and you will too!

Overall Disappointing

Based on positive reviews of the Quality Inn Flamingo we had read, my wife and I reserved a room for eight nights in February as part of long deserved vacation trip. However, based on our experiences at the hotel we only stayed five nights, and then transferred to a different hotel. The good: The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful, and gave us good information on how to find a grocery store and dining options. The beds are very comfortable with firms mattresses, which we like. At first the breakfast offerings were very acceptable with yogurt, hot items each day, oatmeal and cold cereal (cheerios and fruit loops, juice and coffee). There was no computer on the premises for guests to use but they did have wifi hookups. The bad: Some mornings the coffee urns were empty upon arrival, items such as oatmeal went unreplenished for several days despite requests, cold cereal was not replenished, such as cheerios, leaving the only cereal option as fruitloops; orange juice was slow to be replenished; There is no ice machine available for guests, you have to take your ice bucket up to the main desk and ask the person on duty to fill your ice bucket; there appeared to be mold behind some of the furniture in our room; The walls are thin and noise travels very easily between rooms, therefore bring earplugs;A minor complaint is there was almost no written material available on the premises for local tourist attractions and points of interest. We picked this hotel in part because of the pool and hot tub. We were informed the hot tub was in need of repair and would not be open during our visit, and the pool continually appeared dirty and in need of cleaning. In fairness, it was rather cold at night during our stay and in the high 60's during the day, so we probably would not have used the pool, but we moved to a hotel with a great outdoor hottub, which we used extensively. The ugly: We were aware the hotel was in a sketchy neighborhood, but we liked the location close to the University of Arizona; However, on our 2nd night at the hotel as we left our room to get a bucket of ice, we were confronted by a pandhandler right outside our room demanding money or a handout of food. We reported the incident immediately, and the panhadler was escorted off the property but the incident was unnerving, especially at night within a few feet of our room. Because of these deficiencies we decided to move to a hotel a few blocks away, and paid about $15 more per night for a much better stay.

Work stay

The hotel was easy to locate, not far from the freeway and close to my training. The facility was clean and had comfortable beds. Staff were nice and check in and out was fast. If you want a no frill stay this is your place. The cost was reasonable for more than one day, if it is a shorter stay the price is higher then it should be. I will stay there again only if it is a multiple day stay.

Went because of the prior reviews. ALthough it was retro, and appeared that some things were new, it was OK. For the price I was expecting a little more. If you need a room thats clean and somewhat quiet, then this is the place.
