Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort

The accomodations made us feel like we were taken away to an adobe paradise. Big comfortable bed, huge thick towels, nice shower, docking station for my music and an unbeatable view of city lights. They even left a light on and had the A.C. going for our arrival. The Grill can hold it's own with any 5 star restaraunt.

The room and hotel were charming, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

It took 20 minutes to find the receptionist to check us in. He didn't apologize or explain. We had called to make sure room was ready. It was. But then, he found a room with a king-size bed, then told us it would be ready in 5 minutes but it was 15-20 minutes before it was ready. My husband was hungry but the restaurant had a set pre-fixe menu and when they finally told him he could have a bowl of soup, they told him it would be $20. Honestly on Christmas?! Frankly, that isn't acceptable at anytime of year for a hotel guest. So he bought some chips in the gift store as they didn't even have nuts or chips at the fancy bar. They first tried to get him to buy a glass of pinot noir for $30. At night we returned from our family dinner to find not one staff person in sight, no valet, no receptionist, no bar attendant. We returned to the room, freezing cold, finally warmed up by a noisy blowing room heater. The bathroom floor was as cold as ice and there was no bath mat or heater. The toilet ran all night, although it was a Toto. Light came through the venetian blinds waking me. Breakfast was done at 10 am but no one had informed of this at check-in, and I had called down to reception twice and got a call back after leaving a message. At 10:20. Then I asked when check-out was - 11AM. When does lunch begin? 11:30. I was starving, no room service. So, even thought they would have given us a later check out we would have had to leave the property to eat. So we packed up as quickly as possible to eat!
