Not so good...

Not so good. Although the room looks clean and the staff is super nice, that is not enough to overcome the fact that the shower does not work. As in it was easier to use a glass and pour water over my head while I stood in the tub than to try and get clean under the dribble of water from the shower head. I must wonder how the housekeeper cleans the tub/shower area if there isn't any running water in the tub? And speaking of housekeeping, there was dried food on the desk area, where apparently a previous guest had spilled something while they ate. Add that to the dirty water glasses and it all adds up to a filthy hotel room.

Nice room, weird hotel configuration

Beautiful room, spacious, clean, wonderful bed and marble bathroom...the odd layout was a surprise, esp. at night arrival. There's a main hotel with registration area, bar, restaurant, and hotel tower, then there are 'arms' with two floors that extend outward, with only stair access and difficult to find your way around. Bottom line: request main hotel tower with elevator and easy access to bar & restaurant. Airport shuttle on the hour only.

OK... Nothing more

The staff at the hotel were were friendly and welcoming. And the lobby area is beautiful. But the room itself was sort of run down. The dresser didn't close correctly... I had to shove it really hard to keep the drawer closed. The signal on the television was truly awful and would freeze frequently. There was a nice walk-in shower. And the fitness center was pretty clean and had good equipment. It got a little noisy at night. Overall, it was just OK.

Below Standard for Chain

Hotel has two areas: traditional tower and a motel-style street facing area with doors hat open directly to the parking area. I was not aware of this and a a room in this second, far noisier area. Given the choice, I wold avoid this entirely. The room was adequate except for some concerning red stains on the carpet. There was no wired Internet access and wireless was a choice of premium for $10 per day or a free version. I paid the the premium service and it was quite poor. Perhaps I was at from the source in this motel area but it was slow with frequent drops. The fitness area is outside next to the pool. It was not clean, very hot, and there were no towels for guest use or to wipe down the equipment. Room service was acceptable for this price range. In general, I would advise fitness enthusiasts or those who need reliable Internet service for work to avoid this hotel. If you do stay, perhaps ask for a tower room.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

There is a convenience store in front of the hotel on the corner. Purchase items such as food and toiletries there as opposed to in the hotel.

Not Bad

This is an older hotel that has be updated and is well maintained. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are comfortable. The 40" flat panel was the biggest I have ever seen in a hotel room and much appreciated (during March Madness). The $10/Day for wired internet was surprising, as I don't remember paying for this service in over two years. The worst part was, it wasn't that fast. Good breakfast buffet (not included, but worth the $13).

Clean comfortable room

Very pleasant and helpful staff for my 2 day weekend in Tucson. The hotel is centrally located and about 15 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the U of A. The room was very comfortable and clean.

Doubletree Renovation In Progress

This hotel must have been recently purchased and is being updated. It is not the plush hotel one would expect from the normal Doubletree properties. I feel it is more of a 3 1/2 star location. It is located on a busy street. There is a public golf course across the street. Personnel at the desk were pleasant. The room was OK but reminds me of a Holiday Inn type place that has been updated. Clearly not a first run Doubletree facility layout.
