Cigarette smoke smell--even in the rooms--cold shower
Although the staff was very nice and the hotel looked nice overall, everything was lost in the smoke. When I first walked into the hotel I knew the cigarette smoke was a problem, but felt the rooms might be better. While the smell wasn't as bad in the rooms, it was still there. After the first night, my throat was raw. The Hotel sits right next to the airport, so there is a lot of airport noise. Finally, the second morning the shower water was warm at best. This was not a pleasant stay and I cannot recommend this hotel. I am still surprised at its 4 star rating!!

Desert Diamont Hotel Review
The acoustics in the hotel room are bad: you can hear noise inside and outside, next door rooms, in the hall, noise of electrical/machines close to the room, televisions of next door rooms, people talking next room, etc. If you want to sleep peacefully, you cannot do so at this motel!

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
If you like real Mexican food, this is the city to be. Just about any Mexican restaurant in the city has the best food, hands-down. 12th Avenue and 29th Street there are about four blocks of many great Mexican food restaurants!

Desert Diamond not 4 stars
This is not a 4 star hotel if that is what a seasoned traveler is looking for.More like a 2.5 to 3 star that gets better reviews because of room comps for return casino customers. The room was noisy, the smoke in a casino is to be expected but the ventilation here is poor. If you are a non-smoker it is best to bypass this experience.Overall it would have been better if the expectation for a 4 star hotel and resort was delivered. The word resort should not be used.

Tuscon [*]
In the hood, far away which is ok because it seems secure but just an ugly casino. The rooms are clean and spacious loved the bathroom and the gym is great. didn't go into the pool but seemed nice. There are sketchy restuarants around the place and obviously in the wrong side of town. The bed was so uncomfortable but i may just be a bed snob as mine is high quality. The pillows where horrible. Not bad but overall a meh. expected more

Overnight trip to Tuscon
I arrived around 10pm and wanted something to eat - the only restaurant open was deep inside their casino. I tried to make it but couldn't wade through the smoke.

Bleh
A few problems with our stay. We stayed at the competitor's place the 3 days prior. The difference is night and day. This place is like a cave. Dark, dirty, smokey and despite the fact that it's only 4 years old looks like it's 20. The rug in the lobby has huge black stains on it like someone spilled an ashtray all over it. The location is good, near the airport but honestly that's all this casino and hotel have going for it. The food options are garbage. The steakhouse is good, buffet is fit for a dog, and the food court would be better served feeding rats. The beddings feel like they are made out of sandpaper. Definitely will stay elsewehere in Tucson on our next trip.

"Rose amognst the thorns"
Hotel is located in an area that is best described as bleek and acompanies a "second class" casino. Rooms are clean and for the most part the staff is very friendly. [...] the Concierge was excelent and very knowlegeable of the Tuscon area. As the property is owned by a local indian tribe some of the liquor regs are foolish. Food is lacking save the Steak house located in the Casino which was well run with excelent service and food.
