Desert Diamond Casino And Hotel

The Desert Diamond is a well managed, upscale hotel near the Tucson Airport. I was visiting a client near by and don't gamble. The facilities quite good and staff very friendly and helpful. You'll find a nice pool, exercise room and free parking/internet/breakfast. What you need to know is that week nights the only bar and all the restaurants are in the casino where almost everyone smokes. But there are lots of places to eat in the area and around greater Tucson.

My stay was pretty average. I work in the hospitality industry and I could see that this hotel could benefit from upgrading room appliances (coffee maker). The mattress was poor, yet the sheets were very clean and comfortable. Room had strong smoke odor, yet a fresh paint job and new vinyl plank floor would remove most the bad odor. The hotel front desk could benefit by giving guests a coupon book for the casino and restaurants. Steak house service was slow, and prime rib was below average. Side dish offerings were poor and portions were small, yet prime rib portion was very good. Sunday brunch was above average. Front desk staff was very polite, yet they all wore different uniforms. Room noise was very bad, next door guests had loud children and parents were just as loud if not worse.

Although the staff was very nice and the hotel looked nice overall, everything was lost in the smoke. When I first walked into the hotel I knew the cigarette smoke was a problem, but felt the rooms might be better. While the smell wasn't as bad in the rooms, it was still there. After the first night, my throat was raw. The Hotel sits right next to the airport, so there is a lot of airport noise. Finally, the second morning the shower water was warm at best. This was not a pleasant stay and I cannot recommend this hotel. I am still surprised at its 4 star rating!!

Breakfast could be better with more selection of things to eat. Not all the sugar stuff.

Stayed at the Desert Diamond because it was close to the airport and we had an early flight the next morning, and because of the casino. Room was spacious and clean. In fact the entire hotel was well taken care of, and the staff was friendly. Ate dinner at the buffet in the casino. Not as big as the buffets in Vegas, but a good selection of food. The prime rib melted in my mouth. The free breakfast in the lobby bar was good too. The casino has a wide variety of slots and video poker, and has table games too. At the end of the evening I had broken even, so no complaints here. All in all, a pretty good place to stay by the airport, especially if you like to do a little gambling.

the room was very nice , clean . over all the hotel was really nice . we also were going to the casino but when we walked in the smell of cigarette smoke was really bad maybe their air filtration system was not working,had to leave

The room was great, convienant location. Will return next time we're in the Tucson area.

This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff went overboard to ensure we had what we needed. My wife noticed the bed sheets were ironed--what a treat! I needed to turn in a rental car the evening before we departed. It was raining extremely hard and the courtesy van came by,followed me to the rental car office and brought us back to the hotel. The driver was friendly and courtious--as was the entire hotel staff. Simply a great place to have fun and stay if your in Tucson.
