Great Family Spot in the Red Rock and Secret Mountains
We did not have too many expectations going in--not having been to a resort in Sedona, AZ. The staff was very friendly--however we were handed off to a "Concierge" who at the end of the day works off of commission to bring in sales to the resorts. This was the detracting part of the stay--as we were pressured into signing up for a 90 minute presentation/open-house on the resort (which we had to leave a $25 good-faith deposit). The time was set for mid-week and we were hiking and missed the start of the appointment, called to let them know and they were just not polite. We tried to get more information on the resort/time-share--but overall they just wanted us for 90 minutes and did not have any other options. Needless to say, we lost the $25 good-faith deposit; however we enjoyed our hike and it was worth it! So aside from the "SALES ROPE-A-DOPE" we enjoyed the resort and everything was really good (although our room could have used a nicer mattress).

Use the Broken Arrow trail just off of 179 to enjoy one of the most amazing hikes in Sedona, AZ. Also, download a "trail-app" on your phone and purchase a map from a local hiking/outdoor shop that has topo-features and elevations.

It's a timeshare
I booked last minute (7 days prior), and did not realize it was a timeshare resort. I've stayed in timeshares previously, and they're just not my thing. The unit was fine, but I booked a Studio - 1 queen bed and 1 sleeper sofa. It was almost cramped. This size room would work for a married couple with one small child. However, it was well equipped with newer appliances, coffee maker, toaster, iron, etc. The bed was very comfortable. Did not use the sofa for sleeping. The room had a safe, but no desk. Surfing channels on the television was annoying. Eventually, I just left it on CBS. HBO was free. Internet was not. The bath was fine, but there was no tub. Shower dripped, but they repaired. The exterior could use some paint. The balcony was extremely small. It was clean, modern, and they had a large staff. There were a bunch of pools (including one for adults only.) They were all outdoors. The spa had it's own location. I thought that was a bit odd. The resort was located in West Sedona. It is a safe area, but near the pharmacies, gas stations, strip malls, etc. The upper-end shopping, native goods, etc are about 5 mi east. I spent my 5 days hiking, running around with friends and did not actually spend much time at the resort other than for sleeping. If you don't know about timeshares, don't fall for the "welcome package" at check-in. The package is just a couple bottles of water and then a soft-sell as they want you to buy a unit. No free cookies or candy! I only received one call from the activities director and that was on day four. At that point, I unplugged the phone. The price was reasonable for Sedona, and I'll visit the area many times in the future. However, I'll find a different place to stay, as when I travel, I like a desk, bath tub, free wifi, and a television with a friendlier interface. I will not recommend the Summit Resort to a friend, but it may well suit your needs. It was "spring break" when I visited. Many of the people I saw at the resort appeared to be empty-nesters.

Nice relaxing weekend...
I rented a studio room. The room was very nice, clean, comfortable, had a patio, and came with a fully functioning kitchen (which was great!). There were plenty of things to do around the hotel and they offer activities. Also, the views around the hotel and hiking trails are very beautiful. They also have a lovely spa/pool area with a grilling area. The only small down side is that the studio rooms did not have a view from the patio (I believe the 1 bedrooms do; but I was unaware of this until I got there) and there is not a restaurant on site. For the price, I would definitely recommend this place! Staff is nice/helpful, absolutely beautiful scenery, and is a great place to spend a relaxing weekend. :)

Furniture was old, worn and torn. Mattress was third-world uncomfortable. Springs showed and were felt all night long. Staff were great but room was not at all upscale...for Sedona this was our worst resort experience....

Very good value if you get a special price
Cute little condo with nice furnishings and pretty landscaping. Very small, only queen size bed, but full kitchen and very large bathroom. Try to book upstairs rooms. Timeshare, but just tell the "conceriege" you're not interested and walk away before they have time to "hook" you. Really nice setup for the $107 per night that we paid.

If you are gluten free, try Picazzo's Pizza on same highway as the hotel. We've only eaten the pizza and salads, but they are very, very good for gluten free.. GF beer also available. L'Aburgere in Uptown has a charming dining room and creekside tables in good weather, but pretty expensive.

One Night Stay
We were at the Sedona Summit for just one night as relatives were staying there for a week and we went to visit. The reservation was for a deluxe studio, however, when we checked in we were given a full suite with king size bed, full kitchen and living room as well as a wonderful bathroom. It was unexpected and exceeded our expectations. It was a great place to stay even for only one night.

Great room, wish I could have stayed longer
Easy to find, in the room quick. The room was spotless. There was enough room for the five of us. I plan on staying longer in the near future. Sedona is such a beautiful place.
