Excellent experience! Great location and a short walk to uptown shops but also have a complementary shuttle within a certain radius from the hotel. Concierge was very helpful with her recommendations. Pool nice but small. Very friendly staff

Definitely do one of the vortex hikes. We did boyton canyon which was about a 2.75 hr hike. This is partially shaded but I would recommend to hike in the am before the temps increase.

Would Recommend to a Sedona Visitor

The Amara was one of the best resort experiences I've had. The staff were courteous without being condescending. The pool and steam room were lovely and easy to enjoy without annoyance. And the rooms were superb with comfy mattresses, gorgeous showers, and all the bottled water needed to hydrate. The shuttle around town is a nice convenience but limits you in terms of sights, decent restaurants and hikes. They restrict it to a .5 mile radius, in an effort to keep you in uptown.

The food in Sedona is bland and overpriced. Avoid Ken's Creekside and El Rincon for sure. And any Vortex/Spiritual Tours!

Great Anniversary Getaway

After a day of hiking the trails (Devil's Bridge/Mescal have just amazing views!), we checked in to our room. It was luxurious and overlooked Oak Creek where we could see and hear the water tumbling over the rocks. We wrapped up in the cozy room robes and shared a bottle of wine on the patio. The views of the red rock mesas and towering cliffs at sunset were awe-inspiring! Later, after dinner at Hundred Rox (delicious) we sat out late snuggled up beside the firepit, stargazing and sipping hot drinks (that were kindly brought out to us even though it was cold outside)! Next day, more hiking with a visit to the pictoglyphs and ruins at Palatki...later,we enjoyed the hot tub and the saline pool (poolside towels were a plus too!). Service and staff were all so friendly and competent--they went out of their way to accommodate us--and the spa was just sumptuous...had the Soulful Traveler feet and legs hot rock massage treatment...wow! And had an incredible age-defying facial before heading back into the real world. Have to comment that the food (especially the breakfast) at Hundred Rox restaurant was really delicious with great service--we had all our meals there even though an electric car service is provided if you'd rather visit/dine elsewhere. All in all, our visit was relaxing and peaceful and just what we wanted in a special weekend (our anniversary). It is pricey, with a $20/day resort fee, but the amenities that covers (valet parking, electric car service, steam rooms, a daily yoga class) are well worth the cost for those special occasions that deserve celebration. The hotel is secluded but also right in the heart of town for window-shopping or walking. Enjoyed it all so much we even stayed an unplanned extra day! Will definitely recommend and return!

Sedona Disappointment

We had to get our own luggage out of the car and haul it to our rooms ourselves. The people in front of us said their room wasn't prepared when they entered the room. The grounds were beautiful and the setting anywhere in Sedona is magnificent but for the money I would have stayed somewhere else and been treated much nicer.

Only problem was was we couldn't stay longer!

A fabulous experience. The breakfast we shared while facing a most beautiful vista was amazing! We enjoyed every minute we were there! A golf cart ride driven by a delightful young man took us to dinner and picked us up (probably should have ate at the hotel though as it looked devine but we thought we wanted a lighter fare). It was just magnificent and I would go back in a heart beat!

Beautiful place to stay

Hotel was clean and location was good, beautiful views from our room. Concierge services were a bit disappointing as a concierge was not available most times of the day. Other staff members were very helpful and polite. Creekside trail was a little disappointing as we were expecting a longer walking trail. Overall, we loved the hotel and would stay there again.

creekside view only

The beautiful creekside view makes this resort worth it. If you opt for a construction discount directly over the huge loud cement pit of what will be the pool area, you will not care how much it is for an upgrade!

Value? Try elsewhere!

We were VERY disappointed that the pool was closed for renovations for up to six weeks. We were never told about it and no adjustment was made in our fee. The price we were quoted for the hotel was $268.00 but the price we were charged was $327.56. I expected the AZ Occupancy Tax but the hotel also charged a resort fee of $20.00 + $2.75 tax per day. We also tried to attend the yoga class but the class was filled because the room was TOO small. Very disappointed. The hot tub consisted of a tub in the VERY small work out room. The workout room consisted of several pieces of well worn equipment.

extra fees

There was a $20/day fee charged at the hotel, once you arrived. It made the price of the room very similar to any other hotel I could have chosen.
