Noise...
It was a disappointing stay of 5 nights. 1) Noise in morning when the cleaners started pushing their carts of cleaning stuff; 2) there was also an electronic buzzer sound every 15, 20 seconds day and night; 3) I asked for a couple of more shower towels because of pool access, but never had it; 4) high speed internet was pathetic, downloading: > 1 mb, not to mention upload speed; and 5) had a Phillips LCD TV, but the shows were on via analog signal. I won't go back again unless they corrected all those.

not worth the $$$$
I was not very happy with this hotel. We were looking for a clean, full service, quite and romantic place and this definitely was not it. the first night there my wife and I went to the bar to have a drink and were greeted by 30 bikers ā there for a "RIDE" - not cool. I will never stay at this place again.

poorly built hotel, mediocre service,
I stayed at the Xona as it is conveniently located to my conference. First impression was like any good hotel. Free parking was nice. I was given a room on the bottom floor. First off, the threshold was about 5 inches higher than the floor. So I can see that it can be dangerous getting out of the room late at night if you're not aware of it. There is a nice flat screen TV, but it lacked a remote. I noticed that every 15-30 minutes, someone flushes the toilet in the building and the pipes so happen to be in the walls of my room. So it gets pretty annoying after a while. Then in the evening, I could hear someone stomping and running upstairs late into midnight and started again at 5am. I couldn't get a good night sleep. It happened again the next night, and I had to call the front desk to call security. The elephants upstairs stopped for a little while, then it started again. The room was adjacent to the pool also, and it is very very noisy. Walls, and ceiling are paper thin. Beds were hard as a rock. I seriously considered sleeping in my car. Then when I checked out, the front desk said I had a charge at their restaurant! I have never dined there nor do I know where it is. I denied it, but they told me "you are (my name) and you stayed in room ****, It is your charge." I asked them when was the charge. They couldn't tell me when. They say they couldn't take it off my account, but they will look into it. What the??!!! I will dispute the charges with my credit card company. If you still decide you want to stay there, ask for a room on the top floor away from the bar or pool. And make sure to tell them that you will not bill anything to you room.

Didn't live up to my expectation
Checked in late, they didn't save me a room with a king size bed as I requested. The room they gave me was tiny. It had two double beds in a room about 3/4 of a regular hotel room (tight quarters). The bathroom was old and in desparate need of updating from floor to ceiling. I would have been more comfortable in a nicer room at the Hampton Inn for half the price. Up side is the concierge was very helpful and shuttle service was useful.

Not great...
Xona advertises 3 pools which was a real draw. However when we arrived the pools were reserved for parties one of which was allowed to play loud music until midnight. The staff was not very friendly. It was almost a bother to them if you had a question.

Thin Walls
The group of golfers that were next to us were extremely loud. The walls are so thin-we could hear everything. They woke us up early so they could make their tee times 2 mornings in a row.

Terrible nights sleep
Upon arrival, I was met by a not so friendly person who argued with me over extra charges that should not have been there. He also was insistent that I booked on Hot Wire which obviously I did not! Then our room was super tiny...could barely turn around in it. It had NO window, very dark. The noise from outside and other rooms allowed for NO sleep. The bed was ok, asked 3 times for more pillows and finally got them. Overall I would not return here again even if the room was FREE! We had a traditional king, maybe the suites are better. They would still have all the noise from other accomodations around them. I do not recommend this hotel.

Disappointing
I stayed at the Zona for four nights. I would have changed hotels after one day, but I had prepaid, so I was stuck with it. The job they did cleaning the room was terrible. I had to leave the garbage cans in the middle of the room to get them emptied and they only half way made the bed each day. Every evening, I returned to find the flat sheet and one pillow on the bed and the rest left laying on the floor.

Hotel leaves alot to be desired
The rating on this property was four stars, but I would put it at three. The staff was great, but the hotel seems old and does not have those premium amenities that you look for in a resort. The bathroom was not modern at all, a/c was noisy, and the maids never fully re-dressed my bed. The hotel is definitely not in central Scottsdale. And the rates are higher that what you actually get for the value. I would stay again, but wouldn't be my first choice.

Mark 60s are the new 40s
Not for the faint of heart
I stayed at the Zona Hotel for 4 days from 1.10.13 to 1.14.13 with my wife and 2 adult children (20s). My wife and I initially booked a standard room with 2 beds. The Good. The property is expansive and impressive. The outside temperature was in the 40s and 50s but that didn't keep us from trying out the heated salt water pool and jacuzzi. They were so nice that I almost par-boiled myself. The pool has some organic debris drifting along the bottom which detracted from it. We had it to ourselves though (probably due to the outside temperature) which was a pleasant surprise. The pool area we used (next to Casitas #9) had covered lounges which would be very nice in warmer weather. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was fully booked with a few large business groups having outings there. This limited the front desks ability to offer us a free upgrade to a suite (which was a promotion they had the previous month.) The Bad. The standard room we first booked was a cramped dump. It was dingy, badly needed a paint job, and had crud on the wall next to the beds. It was depressing. So much so that I thought about canceling the reservation, but instead decided to go for a paid upgrade to a suite. The suite was in a nicer area of the property and was much larger than the std room, with a full kitchen, living room area, and separate bedroom with balcony. Our rooms (the std and suite) were both on the 3rd floors, which wasn't a problem for us but might be for others because there are no elevators, just steps. The furnishings in the suite were okay... not luxurious and a bit 'long on the tooth' with light switches that didn't seem to be connected to anything, noisy air conditioner/heater and refrigerator. However, compared to the standard room...a big relief. As was mentioned in a previous review, the bathroom is connected to the bedroom (which has plenty of closet space and dresser drawers). The bathroom didn't have much going for it. For example, the shower control was inaccessible except from in the shower and didn't have preset temperature, so you had to stand in the shower in cold water until it warmed up to livable levels. The glass doors had strange handles that were loose and essentially unusable from inside the shower. There was some crud growing on the corner of the glass door enclosure and the floor of the shower had ground in dirt. I would not recommend this hotel for vacation unless you don't intend to spend any time in the room. It's a place for economic business travel or college student on a budget. The price was right but that was about it.
