The Saguaro arrives in November 2011, bringing with it a new look to where Old Town, the Arts district and Civic Center Mall meet. Bright, lush and vibrant, it's a fresh face amid Scottsdale's downtown scene. Inspired by the contemporary architecture of Mexico and the Arizona desert, The Saguaro is designed around the color and light of the surrounding landscape.

The Saguaro experience begins, fittingly enough, outside amid the arid weather and brilliant sunlight of the Sonoran Desert. Each room exterior is accented by the color of a native desert flower, creating a visual spectrum throughout the resort grounds. Inside, your room's primary color is joined by contemporary and natural furnishings in wood and leather, including hand-crafted pieces imported from Mexico. A stay here is about relaxation, nature and yes, our two famous pools. Both are easy walks from every room, heated and ringed by cabanas. The Saguaro Spa welcomes you to de-stress you even further. When it's time to recharge, the comprehensive fitness center will get you looking your best for around the poolside bar.

The hotel features an onsite Jose Garces signature Restaurant, Food Network's 2010 The Next Iron Chef winner. Distrito, a modern Mexican restaurant and bar features the wonderfully diverse street food of Mexico City, known in that country as the Distrito Federal and Mexican Barbacoa, or barbecue. Distrito will also offer guests over 100 varieties of tequila and an exciting array of drinks. Enjoy a playful and relaxed dining experience offering a taste of modern Mexican street food alongside a dazzling array of mouthwatering fresh fruit margaritas and cold craft beers on an our outdoor patio with views of the amazing Arizona sunset. Also enjoy Saguaro's lounge Old Town Whiskey, a bar evocative of frontier drink parlors of old, Old Town Whiskey offers a collection of domestic spirits and artfully crafted cocktails alongside classic American dishes. In the morning stop by for a cup of joe from the Garces Trading Company, serving Chef Garces' custom-roasted GTC coffees and house baked goods.

A resort fee of $19 per day does apply and will be collected/charged by the hotel at check-in.

Resort Fee inclusions:

Complimentary access to our state of the art fitness center, Complimentary Daily newspaper offered in the hotel lobby, Complimentary use of Saguaro Bicycles, Free Wi-Fi, Free local telephone calls and 800 calls, Complimentary valet and self-parking, Complimentary in room coffee.

Area description
If Scottsdale is where the old west found its modern groove, the Saguaro sits at the main intersection. We're next to Old Town, the historic quarter where cowboys meet the cutting edge. The resort overlooks not only hitching posts and saloons but the Civic Center Mall, a 21-acre urban park home to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) and the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. The ever-trendy Scottsdale Fashion Square mall isn't much further.

overall it was ok. Very clean room, although I think the walls and door into the room are paperthin. Didnt feel all that safe in the room itself at night. Able to hear all the loudness that was going on outside around hotel. Didnt get restful sleep. but again pleased with overall cleanliness of our room

Spring Training Vacation

The overall experience was wonderful. Since we were there for Spring training the location was perfect since we were able to walk to & from the Stadium. Also the hotel backed upto Old Town which made shopping convenient. The room was adequate but the thermostat was difficult to control & the fan never turned off -- although that muffled the outside noise. Staff was very helpful. Cleaning staff changed towels each day & the room was always cleaned to our satifaction. We would have liked a refrigerator & microwave in the room or breakfast buffet available.

Expected Better

I will start with the positives. - free parking - location location location - pool - location again, close to old town and parks - garces coffee traders Here are the negatives - rooms slightly update, but still dated - horrible bathroom quality - dirty carpets - unfriendly front desk staff, that is if you can find them - districto was nothing special - room rate should $100 per night less

Noisy and not 4 star

I asked for a quiet room and they put me infront of the drive up to the lobby. Loud people driving up and shouting until midnight. Was overcharged in the restaurant. Shabby cheap decor posing as urban chic.

Well-located

This hotel offered a nice room, solidly updated, with space to stretch out a bit. The color schemes are funky, which is a nice respite from beige.

Chic Hotel in a good location

The staff were very attentive and friendly. The hotel itself consist of a variety of buildings that are not connected to the main lobby so you have to make your way outside to your building. If you are traveling with friends certainly request the same building. The rooms were obviously renovated and although they have fresh vibrant paint it couldn't cover up the age of the hotel.
