Great place for a weekend

We went for a night over 4th of July weekend and everything was great. We spent the entire day in the pool to beat the heat and it was great. The staff couldn't have been better. Well worth the money.

Wonderful weekend

We had a wonderful experience at The Phoenician. The hotel staff was very service-oriented and friendly. The florist had a special bouquet arranged for me to give to my wife at the airport, the concierge made a very good restaurant recommendation, and the room service was very impressive. Food at the restaurant onsite, J&G Steakhouse, was phenomenal. What the room lacked (only a little) in it's impressiveness was made up for by the extensive resort grounds, which were beautifully designed and meticulously maintained. We would certainly stay here again.

Dining tip: In Hotel

J & G Steakhouse was an excellent dining experience. It was pricey, but we were prepared for that and had an amazing meal. We were impressed with the portion sizes, which were not too big. The waiter described the portion sizes as intended to allow sampling of a larger variety of different flavors. It was a very memorable meal.

The quick getaway - Phoenician

Traveler: Usually stays in five star hotels. Frequents Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons. Phoenician: This is a 4 1/2 out of 5 star hotel. The location is right off Camelback mountain. Hotel includes multiple restaurants, SPA and golf course. The service is very good and the customer service is better then satisfaction. Downside to this hotel: The pools. Yes, pools. The pools are very well maintained and the service at the pool is very good. Two downsides. The pool is surrounded by Metal gates that open and close. The doors themselves are very heavy and seem to be a great item for children to play with. If you sit near any of these (which it is very hard not to) all you hear throughout the day are the doors clanging open and closed. The hotel could fix these if they actually put the doors at the other ends of the ramps and not near the patrons. The other downside of the pool is that the one true place that you can get full sun is where the cabana's are located. It is a little senseless to pay $150 for a cabana if multiple chairs are open..but it is one of the only ways to get full sun throughout the day. Downside #2: The SPA is outrageously priced. The price for a massage is greater then the Peninsula. The SPA is also a little dated. To be fair they are getting ready to renovate. Upsides: The outdoor spa here is great. The outdoor service is great and the location could not be better. You are able to walk right out and get to Camelback. The hike is great and challenging and can be done multiple times during your trip. Upside #2: Upstairs outdoor bars with fire pits and patios. The service in this area is exceptional and the staff is very friendly. We will be back but maybe not for the lower pool area and SPA.

The Beautitul Phoenician

The Phoenician, the resort itself is absolutely beautiful! The staffs are very pleasant and nice, they responded to our needs immediately! We got a suite with a balcony, which overlooked the golf course and a mountain very! The weather was perfect, because we were able to have our coffee on the balcony. Definitely will return to this resort!!!

We had dinner at the hotel, but also at the Scottsdale Fashion Mall. There were lots of restaurants near Fashion Mall. The dinning and shopping wasn't far from the Phoenician Resort.

Not a good value!

We used the pool and one of the restaurants. [...]5 Star hotel was somewhat lacking. Low quality towels. They were very rough and had several pulls.

Excellent, centrally located hotel

A great experience from beginning to end. Very friendly service and staff. Amenities are super. In the areas where the rooms are, it is quiet and restful. I especially like the little seating areas sprinkled about where one can have a private conversation--I even conducted a one hour business meeting in one such area. The health club is more than adequate We enjoyed just walking about the property as the grounds are well landscaped and nicely laid out. Used the Business Center and that was an excellent experience. Needed something printed from my laptop and that was easily done.

Good service

Excellent service. The hotel should inform residents that the valet parking is $26 per day. The J&G restaurant experience was not good

First Class Getaway

We spent June 25th to July 4th,2009 at the hotel. It was 1st class all the way from the moment we checked in. When we arrived, they upgraded our room and moved us to the Casitas, where we had one of the most beautiful view of Camelback mountain. The room was beautiful and spotless. We would have our breakfast every morning on the balcony.Room service was impeccable every day. The pools, the grounds, etc. were 1st class. Service at the pool was amazing, our pitchers of water were replenished constantly and the staff was always friendly. The Phoenician is perfectly located if you want to shop and dine. We travel at least 2-3 times a year, and with no doubt this is one of the most beautiful places we've stayed at. The one negative to this hotel is that if you wanted to use the Fitness Center you had to pay a daily fee. We absolutely recommend this hotel. We had an amazing stay from beginning to end!!
