Your staying at a casino that also has hotel rooms

Would not recommend Wed, Aug 6, 2014
Has all the warmth of a igloo. Your check in is at a small area on the casino floor. After you must roll your bags across the casino a long way to get to a security check to use the elevators. Room was very nice after the 3rd room switch. 1st room which I was told I was going to enjoy, had a view of a utility shack and dirt. I then asked for a pool view and agreed to pay an upgrade fee. I was put on the ground floor and the room was as dark as a bat cave even with the blinds wide open and all the lights on. There was no way I could be in that room for 2 nights, especially because I needed to use the desk for work. I requested a switch again and got a room that had a partial view of the pool and a view of the roof top of the convention center portion of the hotel. Nothing attractive to look at but at least not offensive and was very bright because it was on a corner. I got a phone call about 10 minutes after the 3rd room switch and I thought well at least their asking if I was ok with the new room and apologizing for my having to take almost 1 hr to find a decent room but no - they called to ask me if I took the gross decorative sheet that they drape across the bottom of the bed which never gets washed! I asked them if they were kidding me and also, who would want that thing, let alone even want to touch it? They never asked how my new room was and just phonily accepted that I didn't take the gross Ying Yang designed bed drape. Wow, that made me feel welcome. How about a $50 credit to the casino as an apology for their putting me in lousy rooms in the first place? The pool area, which seemed to be so great in the photos, was very detached from the hotel. You needed to take the elevators below the main level to what feels like a basement level and walk out locked doors and proceed across a baron cement area to another security key locked gate to enter the sterile pool area. After a couple of laps and sitting by the pool I realized it was actually better hanging out back in my room with the convention center view. Half the place was under construction, with the exception of the roof top restaurant, which I didn't visit although I hear it is nice but very expensive. All the food court style places seemed unpleasant, so I had to get in my car and drive to in-and-out to grab some fun food to eat. There are so many hotels in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area that are great...I suggest trying another.

Dining

Sweet Republic Ice cream in Phoenix. Home made, seen on Food Network, very friendly, delicious flavors, worth the short drive.

Wonderful place to stay

Would recommend Mon, Jul 28, 2014
From the friendly staff to the wonderful view this was the best place I have stayed in a long long time. The room was very open, the bathroom was amazing, the best was very very comfortable and the view from the floor to ceiling windows was amazing. The food was great, the club was fun, and the view was just beautiful! The only negative comment I would make was the casino was a tad bit heavy on the smoke, it did not seem like the ventilation was working to well. I've been to other casino's and this has never been an issue. Beyond than that though, the staff was friendly and informative. I will definitely stay here again.

Great For Quick Getaway.

Would recommend Mon, Jul 28, 2014
This is an Indian owned casino hotel, but it is a step above most Indian owned establishments. First off the hotel is top notch. The room were very well done to a notch above most hotel rooms, and large in size. Someone used to a Ritz would be at home in the rooms at Talking Stick. The hotel is so, so, compared to Vegas, but for a Arizona casino it is probably one of the better ones. The pool is pretty fun on weekends as they have gone out of there way to promote the pool, and it is working. The staff could be more personable, which is about the only down side I can think of, besides there is nothing else around this hotel. Message to the owners, keep up the good work.

Adult Staycation

Would recommend Mon, Jul 28, 2014
If you're an adult looking for a good time, come here. Their pool parties on the weekends include a DJ and specialty cocktails. There's a night club on the top floor, 2 very delicious restaurants, Orange Sky and Ocean Trail, and of course gambling.

Dining

Ocean Trail, amazing seafood.

Talking Stick Resort Weekend geatway

Would recommend Mon, Jul 28, 2014
I felt like in Vegas. The room was described accurately. We wanted a balcony with certain perks and all was delivered. now when it comes to the restaurants, waiting times are an issue, 45+ minutes, but worth it. You do get a sense of security, all hotel users are asked to show there cards prior to entry. Overall, we got a great experience with excellent views.

Dining

If your planning in dinning at the Wondering Horse restaurant, (highly recommended for the price), Send a kid or someone in advance to wait in line and text you when close to seating. Between the casino and hotel clientele, Busy is the word, and they do not take reservations.

Talking Stick

Would not recommend Wed, Jul 23, 2014
Pros: Staff was polite, room was clean Cons: About every 20 -30 mins a high pitched sustained beep would go off for about 10 -15 seconds. Walls are too thin and you can hear the loud drunk folks in the surrounding rooms. Buffet - well all I can say is never eat seafood in a land locked state. Hallways leading to rooms are not very clean and most of the guests behaved as if the hotel was a dorm room on spring break in the wing of the hotel I was in.

First time stay

Would recommend Mon, Jul 21, 2014
The hotel was easy to navigate, along with a good service staff easily accessible. The room and amenities were right on point to what we needed. And the pool was awesome, although was not very happy about beer prices.

Entertainment hint

Head to Old town to enjoy night life and always bring your own room "goodies" to avoid spending your bank roll in the hotel. Definitely hit the pool.
