Great Hotel

Good security and great rooms, it would be nice to have a shuttle to the airport or some sort of share ride service....$40.00 each way seem like a waste in a cab...staff was great.

great hotel with some quirks

this really is a great hotel, but does have some quirks. it is really too bad that most of the views from the rooms are of a parking garage, or the freeway. we opted for an executive room and loved the balcony. so nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy coffee in the morning, or evening sunset. however these rooms have much smaller bathrooms than the standard, not a problem as we didn't care if we had a tub or not, but seems strange that the top end rooms have lesser amenities.

Fun vacation

We had a great experience...the pool was big and clean and the pool servers always made sure we had everything we needed. during the week we basically had the pool to ourselves. The only con was the distance from the resort to old town, we needed to rent a car and take a cab which was pricey. The casino offers a free shuttle to the shopping square in the evening. If you are a big gambler stay here, if you're in town to explore the city it might be better to stay in old town Scottsdale.

Designed for Men

In general the hotel was OK but there were some drawbacks. Entering or leaving the hotel required walking though the casino. Not a great idea and lots of smoke. The room was not cleaned until later in the day sometimes due to check outs being cleaned first but more staff, based on projected checkouts, would have been a solution As with many resort hotels the bathroom and lighting are designed for a med to tall man and are not suited for makeup, etc. Including one magnifying mirror (without the option to switch to regular view) is not enough. The pool is nice and not usually very crowded. The buffet is nice but very crowded sometimes and not something I would wait in line for

LOVED the resort!!

We just returned home and couldn't wait to write our review. We had an amazing view of the pool, golf course and mountains. Convenient access to the highway, many great eating options and overall a great time. We will definately stay again in fact I told several friends that travel to Arizona on trips too.

Wonder

All in all it is a beautiful resort. I would recommend this resort to people but warn them about all the cigarette smoke. The food is very good in the restaurants and reasonable. Pool attendants are nice but do not visit the west pool. You need to call. The food is a little bit more expensive. If there are any functions going on in the hotel you need to check ahead of time. The concierge does not have tickets put aside for there own patrons. The rooms are beautiful. The do have a frig but no microwave, Which would have been nice to have to warm up left overs.

Relaxing long weekend

The staff, especially poolside, are fantastic. Service was excellent and the rooms are clean and spacious. The only down side was the food. Other than the Orange Sky restaurant which was amazing the rest of the food was standard pub fare. The food was good, we just felt the menu could be a little more resort worthy.

Booking Dificulty

I booked a room with two beds and was given a room with one. When I tried to ameliorate the situation the desk clerk lied to me and told me there were no other rooms available. I was very disappointed.

Awesome Spring Training Experience

My wife and I stayed at Talking Stick for a long weekend during spring training. It was a perfect quick get away. The pool is spacious with good bar service and the restaurants were tasty. The casino is good size with 30ish blackjack tables and a 40ish table poker room. You are also only a 5 minute drive to Salt River Fields for the Rox and Dbacks home games. Rooms were very comfortable and well furnished. Rainfall showers and a deep tub in the bathroom. Our only complaint is that the casino is extremely smoky compared to the newer Vegas casinos where they draw smoke straight up and perfume the air but this isn't vegas and understanding that it is a great property.
