Scottsdale resort ranked among the world’s best by Travel + Leisure
The five-star InterContinental Montelucia Resort and Spa draws inspiration from Spain's Andalusia region to create an unforgettable Arizona experience. Situated at the foot of postcard-perfect Camelback Mountain, the resort is just minutes away from Scottsdale and Phoenix attractions such as Old Town Scottsdale and the Phoenix Zoo. But with golf, fine dining and an award-winning spa, guests settle into plenty of activities at the InterContinental Montelucia Resort and Spa.
Highlights
- Sunset Cinema series with al fresco film screenings
- Planet Trekkers Kids Club: Indoor and outdoor activities like life-size chess, treasure hunts, gaming room (Wii and X-Box) and more
- On-site Joya Spa
- Priority tee times are four area golf courses
Rooms
Thirty-five acres of lush desert landscape are the backdrop for the incomparable rooms, suites and villas at InterContinental Montelucia Resort and Spa. Expect poster beds, desert, pool or mountain views, private patios or balconies and the Divine Bed by Joya Spa. Flat-panel HDTVs, free Wi-Fi Internet access, luxurious sunken bathtubs and showers with dual showerheads are some of the amenities that make this resort a Scottsdale standout.
Features
While the heart and soul of the InterContinental Montelucia Resort and Spa comes from Andalusia, there are other influences here, too -- a restaurant inspired by Villa San Michele in Tuscany, a wedding chapel with elements of the Hotel Cipriani in Venice. The Castillo Lucena event space is accented with 16th-century palace double doors from the village of Luceno in southern Spain.
Dining
Restaurants, bars and cafes at the InterContinental Montelucia Resort and Spa represent some of the best of Scottsdale, from Lavazza coffee drinks and housemade gelato to award-winning fine dining at Prado, where the dinner menu changes daily to highlight the freshest ingredients available.
Recreation
InterContinental Montelucia Resort and Spa features five pools surrounded by palm and citrus trees and direct views of Camelback Mountain. Soak up the sun or relax in the shade of a luxury cabana.
Joya Spa provides a combination of bliss-inducing services, including spa treatments, salon services, a yoga and fitness center and global spa cuisine at Joya Terrace.

Overall a nice place...
Overall this was a nice place to get away. It would have been close to perfect but for a few kinks. The staff overall was very accommodating. They do use your name regularly which does give you a feel of service and comfort. The rooms were standard, but the bathrooms were fantastic. The bed left something to desire...very squeaky..and kind of slumped in the middle. Pillows were great, which can be hard to find. The pools are nice and the grounds pleasant. The spa was pleasant but very overcrowded..almost felt uncomfortable. It was waves of people in and out. Also a bit overpriced for my taste. Facial was about $180 including tip..which is ok. The facial was wonderful. I was going to have a massage, but couldn't part with $200 plus for a 50 minute. Have them at home for about $100-150..Their restaurant was the worst. Prado...it left everything to be desired...the caesar was soggy on wilted lettuce.. the tuna was not seared correctly..and the melon salad which was said to be grilled was not... Grilling would have given it some smokey flavor which it needed as there was no depth to this dish at all. It was amateur and not cooked correctly on any level. The chocolate cake was great, perfect, but the gelato was grainey..several other people throughout my trip had told me the gilato was not good...so I conquer...not good. Overall I would stay again...maybe!

Don't waste your money at Prado. Go elsewhere. The cafe has some decent food and there are restaurants within 5 minutes in pretty much any direction.

Peaceful Place
This hotel is in a great location and near great shopping. Changed rooms because my first one was in a bad location, but bumped up to a suite and enjoyed it. Not all rooms have a nice view and are dark. Very clean and great maid service.

Not to large resort
Montelucia is a nice resort. The room and bathroom were quite large and comfortable. In my opinion it should be a 5* property if not for a dirty carpet in our room and worn out bath towels.

Montelucia
The rooms were large and the bathrooms were huge. The staff was fantastic and always remembered our name after only meeting us once. We arrived early so our room was not ready but they allowed us to change in the spa. I have to say what I saw of the spa it was beautiful. The food was good but the food at the outside bar was good, I thought was slightly over priced. The main restaurant/bar had friendly bartenders and they had a jazz band playing both nights and they were outstanding. All and all, we will be back soon.

I saw the desert!
I not only saw the desert, but experienced it here at this hotel. Camelback Mountain's lovely profile was constantly visible. The pool area, the gym, the spa the terrace restaurant were all wonderful.

Great spot for Anniversary!
My boyfriend and I went here to get out of our boring town for a romantic getaway for our anniversary. It was absolutely wonderful! The room was beautiful, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the views and amenities were absolutely gorgeous. All of the pools were beautiful, and the Prado restaurant served wonderful Egg's Benedict. We'll definitely be going back!

Could Have Been Better!!!
This hotel is set at the base of the beautiful Camelback Mountains. I paid a premium to get this view only to have it blocked by two big trees. Not happy. The walk to the room is long from the parking lot. They have many golf carts on the property zipping past you on every occasion and was turned down for rides all but once. There is a sticker on the sliding door window (with a picture of a scorpion) that clearly states to keep the doors closed to keep out the desert dwellers. Upon returning to our room on a daily basis we found the door unlocked and on one occasion the door was open fully with the A/C wasting away. They used high quality materials to build with however the craftsmanship was not there. The tile abutting the front door was not level, leaving a 3/8" opening to the room. It certainly had me looking for desert dwellers and did not enjoy the mental anguish! They have a very young staff and were very apologetic, say when the bellman never showed , but offered no recourse. We were overcharged twice but coming armed with our [...]itinerary the charges were quickly reversed without further amplification. Upon checking out were were not given credit for spa treatment, but was caught in time.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
On one occasion we dined outside on premade hamburgers($18.00) and hotdogs($14.00). I understand that the hotels are in business to make a profit but dont make them hate you. I want to be a returning customer to the hotel. You can find deals on local dining in the local newspapers, which I did not see around.I may be on vacation but still need to keep up with daily events. We ate out good locally.
