Seen Better
I stayed here a few years ago and it doesn't look as if any upgrades have been done. Carpet a bit worn etc. Slide for kids was taken down but nobody told us about that, so the experience for the kids was not what it could have been. I also feel it was overpriced. Having said all that it was a good trip and we had fun. Bonus was no fee for parking and wifi with the facility fee of $20/day.

Re-energizing spa
Love this resort....beautiful, peaceful, service oriented resort. You don't need to leave unless you want to see a preseason game first hand....I like the seclusion of the hotel, not that far from major shopping and sites...just down a ways from the casino...spa was great, very tranquil and professional. Will surely be back for more!

Try somewhere else
We are frequent travelers to the Phoenix metro area. This was our third stay at the Regency Scottsdale( which we typically enjoy) and I have to say we were disappointed. Though we reserved a king bed room, we were told on arrival none were available. At approximately 1000$/day(not implying our room rate was this high) for our short 48 hour stay in town, we would have expected that the hotel could have informed us our room type selection was unavailable prior to our arrival. If you book via a third party like Orb-tz, expect to be treated somewhat second class.( No morning paper, perfunctory excuses, etc.) They better be careful as I suspect third party booking is in fact becoming a bigger market share of hotel business. With so many other excellent choices in the Phoenix area I suspect this will be our last stay. Sad, the grounds are lovely and the bar is nice.

Great place to vacation
A great place to stay in Scottsdale. Close to shopping and downtown district. Enjoyed the spa. The pool area was under construction during our stay, but it was too cool to want to swim anyway. Would like to return in warmer weather to enjoy.

great get away
my husband and I wanted a get away for a few days, way from the north east and the rain. Unfortunately, the weather in AZ was cold, there was some sun. There was not a lot to do for us. The computer charge seemed strange, usually the use has been free at other hotels. Handicapped parking was quite far from the building. Room was fine. Hotel very nice, clean.

Very nice relaxing hotel
When we first checked in at the hotel they told us our room wouldn't be ready for a few hours but they gave us a voucher for 30% off a meal at their restaurant while we waited. However, by the time we walked over to the concierge, they had already called us and let us know the room was ready. Then they gave us our free check in margaritas! Yummy! The first room we received was a room overlooking a roof with solar panels which was very disappointing. So we went back downstairs and the manager gave us a new room overlooking the "lake" which is an average view, the lake in man-made, but we learned the benefit overlooking the "lake" when the nightly weekend gondola rides began on the lake and the gondelier sings opera. It was wonderful listening to lovely sound each night. The room was very nice. Bed was comfortable and it had a decent size balcony with a screen door that allowed the fresh air into the room. There was a flat screen tv, cordless phone, and with our $20 a night "resort fee" we got to enjoy free wireless. The bathroom was also very modern and nice. My only complaint about the room is that while clean at first glance, there were food stains on the wall, the comforter had stains on it, the bathroom corners weren't that clean, etc. It was a shame for such a nice hotel. Other than that, I really have no complaints. With the resort fee we got access to the tennis courts for free which were REALLY nice. They gave us towels and water, we rented rackets and balls, and it was really fun. There was a pro who runs the courts/academy "Rafael" - he was great, and would give you tips and you can purchase a lesson too. On the lake, at night, as mentioned before you can take a candlelit gondola ride with the opera singing and all... it was really nice. We made the mistake of paying the $10 per person but if you eat at the hotel restaurant Alto, they give you a ride for free. The hotels has tons of pools - some heated more than others. It has a swim up pool bar with TVs, they have cabanas that you can reserve, and they have a beach/pool. The BEST part of the hotel was the open-air lobby which leads to the patio complete with firepits and fountains. Every night on the weekend they had a live band and everyone from the resorts sits on the couches and chairs and listens to the music. It was WONDERFUL. All in all I would stay at the Hyatt Regency in Scottsdale again. They have special villas you can rent along the lake with 2 bedrooms and a fireplace - they looked really nice. I would suggest that for anyone who is traveling with a family or another couple. Again, wonderful vacation.

Money-saving tip:
In Hotel
As mentioned in my review of the hotel, if you are planning on dining at Alto in the hotel, then do not pay the $10 for the gondola ride around the lake because as part of dining at Alto you receive FREE gondola ride certificats.
