Mid-century modern getaway in downtown Scottsdale
Relax, play, indulge -- orders easily filled in Scottsdale's mid-century modern getaway. A 2005 renovation artfully restored this beauty to hipness once enjoyed by Bing Crosby, Marilyn Monroe, and other glamorous Hollywood types. Six two-story buildings and a seven-story tower wrap around an hourglass and martini glass-shaped pool. Guests get pampered or stay fit at VH Spa. They also drink down libations at the Oh Pool Bar. Hungry? Get served at legendary Trader Vics or the signature Cafe ZuZu.Highlights
- Exemplary mid-century modern decor
- Complimentary morning espresso and coffee bar
- An hourglass and martini glass-shaped pool
Rooms
Modern design reigns in rooms, studios, or suites, which boast glass walls opening to a patio or balcony with city, mountain, garden, or pool views. Red, teal, and gold hues contrast with white brick walls and built-in espresso workstations. Terrazzo tiled bathrooms have separate showers and Red Flower amenities. In studios, Philippe Starck-designed tubs sit behind curtains for luxurious TV viewing. Cabana rooms include a double-size cabana poolside patio. Mini-bars and wireless Internet access are available (fees apply). Guests can indulge in a Tower suite with full kitchen and dining area, plasma-screen TV, iPod satellite, complimentary shoeshine, and available personal shopper (fees apply).
Features
The downtown Scottsdale location is hard to beat. At the hotel itself, the meticulous playful design promotes relaxation complimented by the Oh Pool Bar + Cabanas and full-service VH Spa and 24-hour fitness center.

relaxing retro style
Absolutly have not a bad thing to say about the hotel Valley Ho. The room was remarkable, the beds comfortable, even in 114 degree heat the air cooled the room down to a comfortable 68 degrees...The hotel staff was terrific!! The room had a retro, asian, contemporary decor...and all the amenities one could ask for. A step back in time with all of the modern day conveniences! Stop by the Spa gift shop and pick up some of the signature shampoo, and body wash...you will be dreaming of returning to the Valley Ho soon!

Very hip hotel in a hot neighborhood
The hotel has been restored to its mid century glory. The decor is spot on, but with an eye to comfort. We enjoyed our balcony with its oversized chaise. The hotel was within walking distance of Old Scottsdale with its many shops.

Fun
Although this hotel may be billed as a '50's' redo, and there certainly are 50's touches done very well, the hotel is contemporary modern in every sense. Our room was a hoot with an eclectic mix of 50's meets Italian design. I want the bathroom. Frosted glass walls and sliding door, with glass tiles in the shower. Separate toilet room. Only issue for me was the typical European mood lighting in the bathroom instead of at least one mirror to actually see yourself well. A desk-style mag. mirror in the room did not have a light, and the lights above were tiny (cute) drop halogen lights with no real power. The glass balls beaded hanging light in the center of the room was fun. Very comfortable king bed. Excellent design of carpet and fabrics and wall paper...well thought out. The front desk people and especially the concierge(s) were wonderful help with dinner suggestions and reservations, as well as help with mailing (shipping) items home that we did not want to carry. I want to go back!

Short walk from hotel
A lot of art galleries in a several block area of 'old' Scottsdale. Favorite restaurant in that area was the Tortilla Factory, which sounds like it might be a Mexican restaurant, but was quite southwest instead, with many very interesting and unique touches to the menu.

Great rooms & pool loungers!
Stayed in Studio King - chic/unique but would recommend to others asking for a better view - not sure what would get though as surrounded by roads - quiet though & hummingbirds visit the shrubbery!! Trader Vics disappointed - had thai curry - I eat quite a lot of Thai & have been to Thailand so know what to expect - it was very thick and extremely salty - was knocked off bill & offered another meal (but did not take). We travelled onto 4 other hotels from here and, athough we were satisfied with where we stayed, I would love there to be a Valley Ho room in every location I holiday at!!!!! Lunch was good poolside. Staff/concierge helpful. Was a pool party at the weekend which made you realise that pool area not large but was only 1 day so did not matter to us. Pool bar staff really nice!

Long walk from hotel
Mall quite a long walk away (depends on the heat!) but can get the free Scottsdale Trolley at bottom of road. Rawhide (Chandler) about 20/30 mins away. Rusty Spur Saloon - Scottsdale (get trolley) - good beer, food & laugh with band. Dos Gringos - outside bar (cantina) - cheap, good beer

Outstanding Design!
This was by far one of the most unique looking hotels I've stayed in. The room was fantastic! The bed was also one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. I wish they gave you a little room in the fridge to put some leftovers in instead of being over crowded with (way over priced) mini bar stuff. I would definately consider staying at Valley Ho on my next trip to Phoenix and would highly recommend it to anyone else.

Swanky and very cool
The Hotel Valley Ho was a great place to stay not only for the history and architecture of the hotel itself but the atmosphere was very friendly. The staff was extremely pleasant and the amenities made you feel like special attention was placed there for you from the martini glasses to the small ball of soap with it's own dish. The Cafe ZU ZU had very good food and the whole experience was like George Jetson meets the rat pack- very cool. One other thing that was really nice is as soon as you turn off Scottsdale road- boom- there is the sign for the hotel- really cool I will definately stay there again-

Our Stay at the Valley Ho Was Amazing! The staff was SO NICE all the time. The Food was great in the room, by the pool and in the resturant. I felt like a movie star with the super hip crowd by the pool on Saturday when the DJ was playing, and I am 40 something , the music was fun and not to loud. this place is so great we are trying to plan our trip back for next year already.
