In need of some updates

I was in Scottsdale for business & traveled with a handicap person. When I booked the room online, I requested a handicap room, when I checked in there was no notes of my special request even though I had it on my itinary. When I mentioned it, the employee that checked me was not able to accomadate my request. We were placed on the third floor with a small standing shower so he was not able to take a bath. The TV's need to be replaced, faucets need repair, there is no water pressure & takes a very long time for hot water to get to the shower & air conditioner was blowing out hot air (couldn't imagine being there in the summer months). I have worked in hotels for years & when I asked for a late check out, I was told I could stay till 12 noon but anything after that was 1/2 the price of a full nights stay so by that lack of customer service, it forced us to go to the airport five hours prior to our flight which was extremely hard on my handicap friend. Perks; the happy hour cocktails and the free breakfast. JJ's: is in need of deep cleaning, I am a restaurant manager so I know what I am looking at. Overall, it's a decent place for the price, I'd stay again but not with a handicap person.

Hospitality Suite Resort

I found the houskeeping personell to come when I was in the room, watch me leave - gone for hours, then returned after I did to the room. They were hospitable, but a few simple things would have made the stay better, like an ability to take a breakfast back to the room. Also nice kitchenette, no dish soap. These minor details would have added another star. It was clean and nice. Good amenities. I would book there again.

Great Value for the Money

I was traveling on business and needed a clean suite hotel for not a lot of money. I stay in a range of hotels - from the best of the best to "the rest." For what I paid per night, this was a GREAT value. The hotel is around 40 years old and well maintained. If you are looking for a hotel with fancy flat screen TVS and luxury goods, do not stay here. If you are looking for a GREAT value with a very well maintained older suite hotel, stay here. The hotel was quiet (I asked for a quiet room). The cost included a cooked-to-order hot breakfast plus you had the full kitchen. I strongly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Wonderful place

I was there to check out the college nearby and to have a good time. The hotel was very clean and was really close to everything. It was about a 5-10 minute drive to any shopping center and near ASU. I have never been to Arizona and the hotel provided information about the area in the rooms.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

There was a lot of things to do all around the hotel. If you are not used to hot weather then I would drive but if you dont mind the weather and dont mind a walk it would be great.

Great Deal!

This was my first time out west and it was beautiful! the hotel had a complimentary breakfast every morning and happy hour every night. unfortunately, we did not go to any of them. but the hotel itself was very nice. it was clean and was cleaned daily by the maid. our room had the tennis court as a view but it didnt matter. we used the basketball court one afternoon which was nice. the pool looked adequate, although we did not use that either. -the only bad thing about the hotel was that we forgot to put the do not disturb sign on the door and the maid came three times every half an hour one morning to clean the room. also on the last day we asked for more towels and they said they would bring them which they didnt but it was a tiny mistake. -across from the hotel there is a cute little italian restaurant with a bar in the back which we ate at our first night and it was delicious. -the hotel was in the perfect spot in scottsdale, within driving distance to everything, the 101, 202, old town scottsdale, tempe, phoenix, the gym, bars, and anything else you would need or want to do. -i definately loved this place and hotel and would stay there again.

Not the best place for wheelchairs

We had reserved a handicapped accessible room and didn't get it. They moved us into an accessible room after I complained. They were very nice but it was a hassle. The rooms were so small and we didn't have control over the heat during the day. The bathroom didn't have a grab bar near the toilet. [...] we moved into a holiday in. MUCH better choice.

30 minutes away is a 90 minute boat ride on the Suguaro Lake that was VERY enjoyable and wheelchair friendly. Desert Queen was the name, I think.

Enjoyed our 2 night stay

I hesitated between 3 and 4 stars, but, as 3 star meant ordinary -- our experience was not ordinary. There were many extras at the hotel. There were 3 pools and a tennis and a ping-pong court. We had a junior suite. It was adequate for size and furnishing. It did have a small refrigerator, microwave, 2 burner stovetop, and a table and 2 chairs. They also had 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. Toiletries were provided as was a hairdryer. In the morning, we got a full breakfast -- coffee, juice and choice of about 5 hot breakfasts -- and in the early evening, around 5 PM, they had a cocktail hour and free drinks were served -- both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They have weekly and monthly rates. There is a van for airport pickup and return and they will take you to places close-by if there is no airport pickup scheduled. They are very close to ASU and to Scottsdale. My only criticism is that I could smell smokers near my room and the smell of old smoke in my room.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

La Fonda Mexican restaurant at 1126 N Scottsdale Rd had decent Mexican food -- generous portions and good prices. This family run business has been there since the 1960s.
