Overview

Esplendor Resort, 45 minutes south of Tucson, overlooks the lush green Santa Cruz River Valley, surrounded by mountains and the Sonoran Desert. Each room offers its own private patio or balcony with panoramic views of the mountains, valley, desert, and spectacular Arizona sunsets. Inside, the restrained southwestern decor and gracious service make this a premiere destination for business or leisure. The resort features a championship golf course, tennis, restaurants, and an outdoor heated pool.

Rooms

Rooms include king or double beds, patio or balcony, in-room coffeemaker, cable television, refrigerator, work and sitting area, hairdryer, and iron with ironing board.

Property features

The resort offers a true getaway in southwestern luxury. Leather furniture and Indian patterned fabrics, beamed ceilings, adobe walls, and wrought-iron chandeliers give the hotel's rooms and public spaces the feeling of a gracious desert hacienda.

Guests dine on dishes such as tequila ceviche or cheese-stuffed filet mignon at the San Cayetano Restaurant or more casual fare at Santa Rita Grill. The Saloon provides patrons with a place to knock back a few shots of Old West nostalgia and enjoy lighter fare and specialty margaritas.

Recreational offerings include horseback riding, tennis day or night on lighted courts, world-class golf on an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones championship course, and a relaxing outdoor pool.

NOT a 4 start at all.

Would not recommend Mon, Oct 20, 2014
I first encountered mildew and mold in the shower the morning after I arrived. I asked the front desk to have housekeeping clean the bathroom, but after a long day out, I arrived to my room at 8:00PM to a dirty room. Nothing had been done. I called the front desk and they sent maintenance and I had to change room. There was not offer to help me move my luggage nor assistance. The next day I had breakfast at their restaurant and my coffee was cold, the eggs were cold, the beans in the dish were dried up and cold. Overall, my experience at this resort was 1/2 star. Only reason I gave them a half star was because the views were amazing.

Mountain Biking Weekend

Would not recommend Tue, May 27, 2014
I was looking for a quaint place to stay on a mountain biking weekend in Patagonia. I ended up choosing this place because it was billed as a "resort" and the amenities seemed like a nice upgrade over Patagonia's B&B's. I was wrong! Honestly, the place just simply run down and not clean. We were welcomed with a used cigarette but on the welcome mat which was never picked up during our stay. Each bed only had 1 pillow and neither seemed particularly clean. Old "tube" television. Lackluster food and service. Do yourself a favor and stay nearer to Patagonia and Nogales.

Dining

Cute Pizza Place next to the IGA in the strip mall at the bottom of the hill.

Hotel staff was very friendly upon check in. The restraunt staff was very friendly, but a bit slow in customer service. The menu at the hotel restraunt was OK and the food was very average.

Great view!

Would recommend Sat, Feb 8, 2014
Had a fun experience & great view from the 3rd floor. Everything was awesome.....but left my Kindle there. Waiting to see if they ship it to me in a timely manner. If so, I'll feel like it was a mostly perfect stay.

Escape to Esplendor

Would recommend Sun, Jan 26, 2014
This hotel was a nice one-night getaway. For the price I paid, it was a good deal. The room was not fantastic at all. But the restaurant, staff and other amenities were great. Which made the overall experience just fine.

Careful about double billing

Would not recommend Sun, Jan 12, 2014
I was billed by this website as well as the hotel. The hotel did not give me a receipt for the charges they billed me later. Numerous calls later, they hotel realized the double billing and removed their charges. Please make sure you check your credit card statement after the stay.

Spiritual Gangster

Would not recommend Tue, Jan 7, 2014
Their website is fantastic to review, when arriving beautiful entrance, beautiful pool area, beautiful views of the area however they are giving themselves more credit that is the value. The gym area - is more for decoration (bicycle one pad was broken - no water available, the sauna was so noisy and working more or less). The room was more than ordinary as the bed, bathroom and coffee was just OK. However I did appreciate free wireless. Be ready to pass the check point (border patrol).
