Getaway for few days

My husband likes old traditional buildings and the fact that it was right there close to downtown was appealing, the lobby is nice so is the frontdesk but the guest rooms fo need renovation and they are too small. Overall it was an ok experience.

Needs To be Re-Thought as an Historical Inn

This hotel is an enigma. If you like to spend time in a lobby that is impressive and filled with period pieces and has a constant flow of 1920's-30's music playing over the sound system, then you will enjoy this hotel. I think the mentality of the people who own or manage this property is stuck too much in the past. It is not particularly a warm, pleasant or convenient place to stay in. Yes, the age and history of it are impressive and it is well-kept. But it lacks basics such as convenient parking (only one stall if you're handicapped), an easily accessible elevator (you have to find a staff member to operate it (not always easy to do), and no outlet in the room that makes it easy to plug in your laptop. In addition the rooms are tiny. For one person it was manageable, but for two, it would be tough. The toilet is in a very small space as well. I banged my head more than once just trying to stand. The bed was very comfortable but the sink is right next to the bed....not the easiest placement for many of us. I realize that this being a national historical treasure of sorts, they are limited to what they can do. But I would combine two rooms, make it one unit and accommodate my guests better.. I was hoping for an upscale, sophisticated experience at an historic Inn. It felt more like staying in an Assisted Living facility. It would take little more that some creativity and a few tweaks to the design of the rooms to improve this property to a level where it should be at. I was very disappointed in my stay. I see that the room can go for as much as $500 a night. As it was, I paid $100 and thought I was overcharged by about $25.

Just missed a 5-star rating

We stayed one night in a standard room with a king bed. We loved everything about the hotel and the room, except there were no robes available, which we would expect for the price we paid. The desk clerk believed that there are robes available in the suites. The antique elevator is not available for use by hotel guests, so third and fourth floors require access by stairs. The antique elevator adds to the charm of the building. We look forward to visiting the hotel again.

Historic, but nothing special

While we were here, we walked around downtown doing some antique gawking and taking some drinks and live music on whiskey row. The location is phenomenal - you can't get closer to downtown and the nightlife. The hotel itself is beautiful and claims to have a rich history in the city of Prescott. The rooms are small, but cozy and comfortable. However, aside from it's haunted past, I wouldn't say that there's anything special about the hotel.

great weekend getaway

Great location in downtown Prescott. Close walking distance to the courthouse square park and Wiskey Row but not too close to the bar scene to be loud at night. Friday and Saturday night there was live music in the park. Lots of people in the park brought their lawn chairs to enjoy the music and dancing. This created a real small town feel. The Hotel very nice, beautiful architecture and plenty of historic and interesting memorabilia and antiques to look at. My wife and I and our small dog stayed in a suite. Comfortable for two people. I read some reviews that said the rooms are way too small and uncomfortable. I didn't look at the size of the regular rooms, but the suite was fine for two people and a small 10 lb. dog. Anything smaller may have been too small. I don't think it's fair to expect modern size rooms and amenities from a historic Hotel. The evening live music outdoors on the dining patio was fun and created a relaxing atmosphere with good happy hour deals. We had breakfast at the on sight restaurant and the food was very good and the service was excellent and attentive. The staff was also very welcoming to our dog and the fact that they didn't charge extra was a bonus. I really don't have anything negative to say, We would definitely stay here again.

Bad Room

It was dirty, tiny, bathroom/only sink practically on top of the bed in the bedroom, dirty & miniscule shower stall, paper thin walls, creaky floorboards, shaky stairs. Staff was remarkably pleasant and helpful but everything else was icky.
