Excellent choice, Great value, location
A teacher Dec 6, 2009
Great location for a conference; steps away from the convention center. Staff was quick and eager to accommodate a room ... change after one night when I discovered that my room had a patio door and not a window I could open while I slept. For me the Wyndham was excellent. Everything was fashionably decorated, new and attractive, fresh, clean, and comfortable. (The room photo must be before the remodel! It's much nicer than that!) Only 1 drawback: no mini- refrig. in the room. The downtown area is clean, feels safe, appears new and recently renovated. It does get quiet in the evening, being a business district, but food can still be found. It was great value!

Who needs a cab? Steps away from the convention center and Chase field. Extremely easy to get to the hotel from the airport using the free shuttle to the light rail and then a trip on the light rail which delivers you almost at the door! Hotel is a few blocks away from an outdoor mall, 1 block from a great Thai restaurtant and there's a Subway open until 10:00 pm for a late night meal!

Beautiful lobby is the only highlight
SV Jess Nov 30, 2009
Upon arrival we learned of the parking fee. Not a nice suprise as there are no other parking options in the area. The front ... desk did not have our reservation. The front desk attendant did try to help us. The king room they first offered us had been remodeled beautifully but was VERY small. We ended up with the original queen suite we had reserved. The room was VERY spacious but was just one large room with two beds, a couch and a dining room table in it. I've always known "suites" to be 2 rooms. The queen suites also have not been remodeled yet so it looked very old, the carpets were stained and the tv was small with a remote that all the buttons didn't work on. The hair dryer and make-up mirror were literally falling out of the wall. Overall I didn't mind staying in the room but was suprised that they are charging full price for it. The king suite our friends were staying in was nicely remodeled but was also very small for a "suite"(approx half the size of our unremodeled queen suite). We ordered room service and the food was delicious and delivered fast especially considering the time that we called it in. On the hotel's website it states under "features and facilities" that room service is 24 hours. This is not true. I also attempted to call the salon 5 times allowing the phone to ring 10 times over the course of 2 hours and no one ever answered. Not what I would consider customer friendly. The concierge was also never around on the 3 occasions we attempted to talk to him/her.

The US Airways center is 2 blocks away. Very convient if you are attending an event there. There are also many restraunts and bars/nightclubs within a close distance (approx 5 minutes walking distance). We did not need our vehicle at all during our stay.

As a regular business traveler to Phx I am trying to find one hotel to serve as my base; this was not it. Staff was ... indifferent, slow at services compared to other Phx lodgings. Unexpected fees, no morning paper as promised, designer run amok in coffee shop - this was not the Post Ranch Inn where such behavior is amusing - insure that I will look elsewhere in Phx for lodgings I can anticipate returning to.

Very nice rooms, friendly staff
Cali girl w/ a Texas heart Sep 7, 2009
The room is beautifully decorated however had a few things; a clicking noise that made it sound like someone was trying to ... get in the room all night (I still don't know what it was), and a couple of room issues (outlet on wall next to bed didn't work, and the toilet paper holder was not secured so the toilet paper kept falling off). It sounds neurotic, but I used to work for a hotel so I look for these things. The beds/pillows were fantastic! Staff was friendly and helpful at all times. Parking overnight for a hotel is ridiculous but I understand since it is technically downtown. Really close to US Airways and Chase Field, you can walk there if you'd like. Their fitness center is decent but their pool is less than spectacular. The pool doesn't have that, "I'm on vacation!" feel, but it works for a lap pool. Altogether the trip was a success, really needed a quiet comfy place to sleep And I like a nice decor, I would recommend it to anyone planning on a stay for a D-backs, Sun, or Mercury game.

Great hotel. Awesome location. Went to Phoenix to watch the Dodgers vs the Diamondbacks at Chase Field. The stadium is within ... walking distance from the hotel. There are plenty of bars and clubs within walking distance. Parking in downtown Phoenix is a pain. The hotel parking is $31 per night with in and out privileges. It is cheaper without in and out privileges one block away in the parking structure next to Majerle's for $12 per 24 hour period. We entered the structure at 1pm Friday and exited at 12pm Sunday and the fee was $24.

When I booked the room it was supposed to be a remodeled Jr suite. It was not remodeled and the thing that was very ... irritating is the unit right next door was. Half of the light bulbs were missing except for the red one over the bed. To say the least I believe they give the people who book over the internet the worst rooms because they receive a discount. Watch out because you might not get what you expect.

You do not have to pay street meters after 8pm until 8am so I saved $25 on valet parking. I was going out at night so when I returned it was after 8pm and I had to be at the airport before 8am. So if this works for you, save some money! When I stopped at the hotel to check in during the day I just paid the meter. Maybe a dollar or two?? This still saved me a ton!
--Overnight Traveler, Vancouver, BC Jul 23, 2009
We found that there are many restaurants and hotels downtown along with US Airways Center and Chase Field. Meter parking is expensive so we found it easier to park in a structure overnight and walk everywhere. We never had to walk for more than 5 minutes. Another interesting thing is that as you walk around downtown people with carrier bikes come up to you and offer free rides! You have to tip them but it is a unique experience (although we didn't have cash on us so we couldn't take advantage).
