Disappointing

Melanie Sep 6, 2009

This was my second weekend getaway in Phoenix recently. The first trip was at the Arizona Biltmore. I compared the Pointe ... to the Biltmore, so I was very disappointed with this hotel. A lot of the hotel needs to be refurbished. The elevators in the main lobby didn't work. We had to carry our suitcases down 5 flights of stairs in the heat. The cold and hot water symbols are switched in the shower. Someone used the restroom in one of the big pools. They only closed the pool for about 15 minutes, definitely not enough time to properly clean the pool for this type of "accident". We had the flag up for pool side service for 20 minutes before I just gave up and walked up to the bar to order food and drinks. The internet isn't free. The movies are $15 each. The only nice thing about the room was the comfort of the bed. I paid the same price for my room at the Arizona Biltmore. Don't bother shopping around the Biltmore is hands down more for your money.

Hilton Tapito

The Waz Jul 6, 2009

Hotel was just OK Upon checkout we had a charge for $16.85 on our incidentials bill for in room mini-bar charges. When I ... called the desk they acted like I was a thief and I quickly told them that a financially afluent, 4.0 million mile traveler does not rip off mini-bars. Not to mention I am a Hilton Honors VIP Traveler. They did issue a credit, but were very rude to my wife when she retrieved the new bill. Needless to say I have written Hilton to give them my thoughts and assured them the next time I have this type of treatment at any Hilton property they will lose not only my business, but I will ban any of my employees worldwide from staying at their properties.

Dining tip, Short Drive

For authentic "hole-in-the-wall" Mexican food, hit up Via De Losantos. It's a short 5-10 min drive at 9120 N. Central. It's definitely a locals place with outside patio dining and the $3.00 margaritas aren't bad. Try the shrimp tacos (fresh and spicy) or the via Mexico sampler plate.
