I'm very easy to please and can't recall ever making a complaint like this in the past, but Doubletree was flatly dishonest. ... The NO SMOKING room stunk of smoke, not a little, but a lot. When I stated this to the lady at the front desk, she looked at the computer screen, told me I was wrong, and that they could not move me as the hotel was full. The Free shuttle service within two miles of the hotel that was clearly advertised on their website was flatly refused once I was there. When I referenced their website, they just replied "We only offer that service to the airport." So for each of the four days as I was taking cabs back and forth I walked by a sign at the lobby entrance that stated "We offer shuttle service on demand but make an airport run on the half hour regardless". When I called the front desk stating I needed to be taken to the airport and referenced the sign, the employee at the front desk denied it existed. When I reached the lobby the sign had been removed. Unbelievable. The shuttle did eventually show up, but left basically when the driver got around to it, even though I wasn't the only one waiting to go. I could go on, but isn't that enough?

An Oasis
GiGi Sep 7, 2009
I've never stayed at a Doubletree before so I was very impressed by the service and accomodations. I needed one night near ... the airport for a flight the next morning so the location was perfect. It was a little confusing to find coming off the freeway because of a lot of construction and one-way streets - not any fault of the hotels. The room was a mini apartment with first class furnishings and decorations. I think they had the softest and certainly the biggest bath towels I have ever used. The rooms were well insulated against noise and light so I was able to get a good night's sleep in a very comfortable bed. I ordered room service for dinner and the meal and service were quite good. I hated to leave the next day! I also got a great deal on Orbitz- about $60/night.

Totally happy with a quickie
Beasel Aug 24, 2009
We book hotels for a quick overnight before we fly out the next day. We usually go for the least expensive that provides ... our needs which inlcudes; shuttle to the airport, breakfast, nice rooms and internet access. Very nice clean rooms. Great linens. Staff was very attentive and honestly cared. Breakfast was adequate, scrambled eggs, bacon, cereal, pastries, fruit. The roominess of the suites was wonderful. We had problems with our remote and Engineering came up to fix within minutes. Very satisfied. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. We look for value between lodging, airport shuttle and breakfast. This is the tops for the rate we paid for the season.

Just What I Needed
Dr. Susan Jul 16, 2009
I was in Phoenix to care for a son undergoing surgery. I needed a quiet place to sleep and calm down afer my long hours of ... caregiving. Thank you for respecting this need; I asked for no room service and was left alone. One request: I would prefer a regular coffee pot; I like to use my own cone filters and strong coffee grounds for brewing.... In short, I come to your hotel every time I am in Phoenix; thank you for being there!

Great 1 night stay!
David May 30, 2009
When we arrived from Bryce Canyon in Utah, we were really tired. The front desk clerk put us in a room close to the parking ... area so we did not have to lug our luggage very far. When we saw the room, which was spacious, very clean and nicely laid out, we were very happy we chose the Doubletree. Also, the hotel was not far from the Airport which was great! I would recommend this hotel and location for anyone who visits the Phoenix area.

Great way to break up a long journey
Retired Apr 23, 2009
We were travelling from Hawaii to Philadelphia through Phoenix. We arrived at the Phoenix Doubletree at 8:15am from a red-eye ... flight. The Hotel checked us to our room immediately! Location is adjacent to the airport. The Doubletree tree has a wonderful private secure courtyard with really nice pool, the room was a large two room suite and immaculate. Short efficient shuttle to airport the next day after a pleasant buffet breakfast (included in charge) and on our way to Philly well relaxed.

Doudy Doubletree Dump Disappoints
Disgruntled Apr 10, 2009
Staff seemed distant and unfriendly. The room looked good on first glance then I found the rug to be the dirtiest I've ever ... seen in a hotel, pubic hairs on the toilet, and almost every surface had a skim of dirt. It's like they just wiped the dirt around and not cleaned it. The hotel restaurant is way over priced, I mean $30.00 for a 12 oz NY Strip? The waiter came once then disappeared, we waited 20 minutes then got up and left. I think they make all their money on the business travelers that are reimbursed. We had to find someone to check out? Where is the staff? The friendliest person in the place was the lady in the gift shop who we asked for directions to another restaurant. She gave clear and concise directions to a good spot.

A little disappointed
Shelly Mar 4, 2009
I was a bit disappointed in the overall experience. My husband and I take one getaway weekend a year (we own a small ... business) so I usually try to book a 3.5 or 4 star hotel so we are comfortable. When I looked at reviews for this hotel they were pretty good so I chose it. I paid $129 per night and for that price I expect an excellent accommodations. The TV in the front room didn't work right, they seem to be cutting back on the soaps, shampoos etc. and when we wanted to use the jacuzzi we had to find someone to open the gate for us, it was locked. The breakfast buffet was the best part of the stay. Like I said, not horrible just not up to my expectation.
