Shuttlehead
Phantom airport shuttle???
Every time I asked about their airport shuttle, they had an excuse as to why it wasn't available. Either you couldn't have it because you didn't prebook it or you couldn't have it because the van was down (out of commission). I think it was a phantom shuttle...I never saw it in their parking lot. The front desk promised me a free shuttle back to the airport & when I called a couple days before my departure, the front desk (same person) said that she didn't remember our conversation about her providing a free shuttle for me back to the airport. To get to the hotel, I paid $21 + tip; to get to the airport, I took the bus $3.50. I base my hotel selection on shuttle service, so I'll cross them off my list. The hotel concrete walkways are dirty & need pressure washing; the room carpet needs replacing (dirty-looking & torn away from the metal strip, although it looks like they're still shampooing & vacuuming it ). They have a nice breakfast room, which is a converted hotel room that's open from 6a-9a. It has round tables, chairs, hot/cold drinks, muffins, jam, bread/toaster, etc. Room cleaning was excellent. The freeway is really close -- to avoid freeway traffic noise, I took a room in a corridor. I'm not going to recommend this hotel because I don't think they were honest about the shuttle - it's probably a sham to draw in customers, since they are on the "edge" of town.

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Nearest MetroTransit Bus stop is near corner of 28th & Sweetwater & goes to the MetroCenter Mall, 1.5 miles approx from hotel. Anzios Italian Restaurant (on 28th in a shopping strip) has good Italian hoagies. I'd buy a hoagie at night & eat it for breakfast the next a.m. Barnes & Noble is on 28th, just before you get to the MetroCenter Mall.

Good hotel, recommended
Good hotel with friendly staff. When I wanted to extend my reservation the front desk asked me to book via Orbitz since I'd get a lower rate! Now, that's keeping the customer's interest in mind. The rooms were clean. The daily complimentary breakfast was nothing to write home about but sufficient. Also, the staff were kind enough to store one of my small bags for a day while I went visiting Sedona and Flagstaff. Overall, a good value for money hotel.
