It was really fun, but they put a heated oil air freshener on full blast, so potent i could taste it. I could have gone without that and a little more scrubbing in the room. staff was awesome though, and had a great time. the roof top deck is aweeeesome. go to the drive through liqour store and go sit up there for hours!

Book a room now, before it's too late

Everything was outstanding and a refreshing experience for us! One tip for the Hotel: Polish the trademark (between the pool and Jacuzzi it should sparkle like everything else. My next room is already booked and I will be staying with this hotel again next week.

Disappointed

The staff was pleasant and very helpful. However, having to pay a 20.00 fee (we did not use the phone, nor was there a mini bar for snacks) each day for a service fee disqualifies any discount benefit. So I could have spent 240.00 at a nicer hotel. There was no room service, no bible, no pens or paper to write with and no complimentary breakfast. The snack bar amounted to us choosing a bag of chips out of a basket….I honestly feel cheated. It was not what I expected based on the pictures and advertisements online.

over rated

Although they have made a valiant effort, it s still an old hotel. You can paint it all the funky colors you want, its still on the shabby side. The staff tries to be helpful, but its a bit on the loud side, house keeping wasn't the best. AND, it was the first time I ve ever been charged an additional 20 dollar daily service charge, on top of the base cost. I m still not real certain what that 20 got me.

Quick Stop

We needed a place to stay for a next day flight out. It was a very comfortable room and very clean. It is a place that would be nice if you had a few days. I am not familar with Phoenix and didn't have time to enjoy or see anything so, I can not say if it is convient for other sights. But it was very convient for a one night stay. The only recomendation I would have as that they do get a shuttle service to and from the airport. The taxi isn't bad but it is an added expense.

Best value for your money, anywhere!

My husband and I were in town and were supposed to stay at a family member's house. Last minute, we decided to book a room. We had never heard of this place but it had good reviews and was the lowest price. We didn't expect much but we were blown away! This place is just so cool. We wished we had brought our swimsuits and could stay another night. This rivals the Hollywood, San Diego, and Vegas hotels we like to stay at. We are already making plans to come back. Clean, fun, completely renovated, hip, modern, and we loved the big band music playing in the amazing pool area. We had drinks on the rooftop and loved every minute of it.

Avoid Hidden Fees

Albeit a nice place to stay with nice amenities, it would have been nice to be made more aware of the $20 "service fee" they charge for internet usage, long distance phone service, or parking; all of which I did not partake in. There is nothing more that an initial space on your check-in paperwork for this addition. I did slap my initials on this without reading carefully, but this is the first hotel I have been to with such a fee, for services you may or may not use, despite them toting things like free wifi and snacks. I must say the pool is beautiful and the restaurant has great food. I was just a little taken aback and disappointed by this practice. Especially being a former Phoenix local and being so excited to stay at a place I used to frequent for parties and dining out.

Fun, casual stay, great food and drinks!

The Clarendon was a nice, clean, casual boutique hotel. We went to visit our friend and his wife who were having a baby shower. He's a Phoenix local and had recommended the Clarendon to us. Gallo Blanco, the restaurant in the hotel, is absolutely delicious. Their michelada drink and the chopped salad in particular were spectacular. I was also surprised at how quiet the hotel was. I assumed with an outdoor pool and a roof bar that it would be rather loud. But the rooms were well insulated and noise was not an issue. The only noise issue I had was with the bathroom light! The fan and the light switch are connected so if you have to use the facilities in the middle of the night and are with someone, you might wake them if you turn on the bathroom light before closing the door. All in all it was a good stay. The bathroom light/fan issue and the checkout time (11 AM -- which is early for me -- I wanted to go have brunch with my friends and then checkout, but they couldn't give us a later check out than 11:30. Therefore we had to pack up before we left to eat.) were the only things I didn't like. But they weren't anything major and certainly wouldn't keep us from staying there again. There are also great deals on the Clarendon if you keep your eyes open!
