Business Trip

The golf course was closed for re-seeding and not mentioned to us at checkin and the fitness center was also closed and not mentioned until we checked in, not notified in advance whch was the reason we chose your hotel. Prime hours of 7-9AM Fitness Center closed due to professional football team in house. And I was charged a $25.00 resort fee per day and couldn't use the golf course or fitness center

Charge, charge, charge

I was in Phoenix for a seminar for 4 days. My room was good but it had the old small tv sets plus to get Internet there was an extra $15 charge per day. Also there was a $30 per night charge for resort fee which I did not know about when I booked the room and prepaid for it. Overall I was not happy with all these extra charges.

Serious warning to business travelers!!!

While the hotel was very clean and comfortable, the excessive resort fees and poor quality in-room dining food ruined this experience. There is a $30 a day resort fee, mostly for the 4 tickets a day to the on-site water park. If you are traveling on business and will not be using the water park, this is a total rip off. These fees are charged for the day you check in as well - even if you check in too late to use the water park - if you were so inclined. They do not waive the resort fees, although a lot of hotels will. By the way, expect to pay $8.50 for a yogurt parfait. The food is very pricy. Avoid the in-room dining, which was so greasy that it was largely inedible. Now, if you were traveling with kids and made a point of eating off of the property, the water park would be an ok deal at $30.00 a day for four tickets. However, this is a poor choice for the business traveler.

Good value

Good value. It's an older property but decent place and price was right at 180/night during peak season. Great atmosphere on the patio to enjoy a drink or meal. Beds were actually pretty good for an older place, they are definitely newer and room was spacious. Convenient location right off the freeway and tucked into the side of the mountain. Didn't get out for golf but played there before and remember it being good bit great. It's not Scottsdale and don't expect to be blown away but it's a great value.

For the price, not impressive but ok

The hotel was pricey and over-staffed. As a result the occupancy was extremely low. Additionally, though I was there only for a two day business meeting, a spa fee applies, simply for it's existence. This is all fine for a five star hotel, but the rooms were not vacuumed, and the dishes were dirty from the previous occupants. This would be expected at a simple motel, but not the Grand Resort Spa.

Great Staff

The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was there for a conference, and was stuck in the conference rooms all day. The hotel looked very nice by night however. I was booked for a King suite, of which they had none when I got there. I got 2 queen beds. With my head agains the head board, by feet still hung off the end (I'm only 6'1")..... bed wasnt too comfortable.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

There is a mall within walking distance, several decent restaurants as well. I would recommend against room service. Its available only when the on sight restaurant is open anyway... and you end up paying way more to get it to your room.... way more!

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

The one thing this hotel is missing is snacks/soda machines. The ONLY way to obtain a drink is through room service. So if you are there either alone or with children - and someone wakes up thirsty - be prepared to order a juice or soda via room service - wait 35 min, and pay $7.00 for it. I wanted a drink at 10pm and asked about getting one - and room service for a soda was the ONLY option.

New rooms

The refurbished rooms were great, however upon check in, the hotel staff gsve me a non remodeled room, in the old section of the hotel farthest from any of the ammenities. I conferred with the bellman who apprehensively told me what I was in for. I then went to the front desk and had them switch rooms to a newly refurbished room closer to the ammenities. The hotel is under construction but was very nice.
